About Lakewood 5K/10K Run is fundraising for Soroptimist International of Lakewood/Long Beach and Lakewood Sheriff's Station
The Lakewood Run is a joint fundraising project of Soroptimist International of Lakewood/Long Beach and the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station.
Proceeds of the run are returned to the community through projects, programs, assistance grants, and awards managed by both organizations. Soroptimist’s mission is to improve the lives of women and girls. For example, the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Cash Grants helps women who have overcome significant obstacles, are the main breadwinners of their families, and are enrolled in undergraduate studies or a career training program. The Sheriff’s Station also uses some of the funds to assist deputies and their families in times of illness or tragedy.
