Lead the Way 5K
Join Fairway Independent Mortgage, Corp. and the American Warrior Initiative for The Lead the Way 5K to benefit veterans in need. The 5K will be led by Ben Lunak, strength coach, and veteran ambassador for The American Warrior Initiative. Our goal is to raise visibility and awareness of the needs of veterans, and 100% of the proceeds go toward the initiative.

About Ben Lunak
Ben Lunak is veteran ambassador and special events coordinator for the American Warrior Initiative. During his deployment, in Ramadi Iraq, his truck was struck by a roadside bomb. The blast killed two of his fellow Marines and left him with a lower leg amputation. Ben was discharged from the Marine Corps in July of 2006.
During his time in Iraq, he developed a passion for strength and conditioning. He followed his passion and opened a strength and conditioning facility that represents brotherhood, sacrifice, and grind. He named the facility after the two Marines that were killed in Ben’s attack (Adam Zanutto and Adam Vanalstine) “ZV Strength.” Ben was one of the first honorees of the American Warrior Initiative, and as an ambassador has shared his story and raised awareness about the needs of veterans nationwide.

DCR Chestnut Hill Reservoir
A reservoir created in 1870 on existing marshes and meadowland to supplement the city of Boston's water needs. It is surrounded by Chestnut Hill, a neighborhood which consists of parts of Boston, Brookline, and Newton.
A 1.56 mile jogging loop abuts the reservoir, 2 laps needed to complete the 5K

I certify that I am physically fit for this event and understand the risks involved by participating in this event. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run or walk. I assume all risks associated with running or walking in this event including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants or volunteers, effects of weather (including heat/humidity), traffic, vehicles and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. On my own behalf and on behalf of my heirs and legal representatives and to the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release and discharge The Lead the Way 5K, The American Warrior Initiative, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, The Fairway Foundation and their respective directors, officers, employees, affiliates, members, agents, representatives and sponsors, of and from any and all liability for injury, death, or damages and/or any other claims, demands, losses or damages, incurred by me in connection with any aspect of the 5k run and walk. I acknowledge that my participation in The Lead the Way 5K is completely voluntary and does not constitute part of my work-related duties.
Parent or guardian consent for children under 18 years of age: I agree to allow my child to participate in this Event. I have read the above-stated consent, waiver, assumption of risk, and release of liability and agree to its terms. I represent that my child is in good physical condition and able to participate.
Photo Release: I understand and agree to allow my name, photograph, story and audio/video to be used in any number of legitimate marketing purposes. I hereby release and grant the right to use my name, likeness, image, photograph, voice, video, any other indicia of identity, in any format whatsoever, from the events or activities as listed above, and to distribute, broadcast and exhibit without charge, restriction or liability, in any media now known or hereafter devised (including, but not limited to, newspaper, television, internet, web casting, social media, and video streaming). I understand that I shall have no right to inspect or approve any such recordings and uses and that they shall remain the property of American Warrior Initiative (AWI). I release AWI and those acting pursuant to its authority from liability for any violation of any personal or proprietary right I may have in connection with all such recordings and uses. I have read and fully understand the terms of this release.
