Hello Friends & Family!

Members of the Abby's House staff are coming together to walk or run 3.1 miles in support of the women and children we serve each day and we'd love for you to get involved too!

On a single night in January 2019, half of the nation’s homeless people in families with children were in three states: New York, California (13% or 22,501 people), and Massachusetts (7% or 12,212 people), according to the 2019 Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) Part 1 to Congress published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Affordable housing is the answer to solving the homelessness crisis, but housing is out of reach for those with the lowest incomes. To afford a 1-bedroom rental home at Fair Market Rent making minimum wage ($12.75/hour), you would have to work 90 hours each week in Massachusetts. In Worcester, Massachusetts, Fair Market Rent is $1,100/month for a 1-bedroom unit and $1,398/month for a 2-bedroom unit.

In 2019 alone Abby's House served 95 women and 11 children in our supportive, affordable housing and 67 women and 32 children in our shelter. We also provided advocacy services to over 500 women in need.

Join us in raising critical funds for the women and children who rely on Abby's House for safe shelter, affordable housing, and a community of support. Our total fundraising goal for this event is $45,000.

By coming together we will be united in our mission towards providing homeless, battered, and low-income women, with or without children, a safe place to call home.
