Hello!
We are participating in the Virtual 5K for 5p- held during International Cri du Chat Awareness Week, May 3-9, 2015. The funds raised from the 5K benefit the 5p- Society which offers support to those with 5p- Syndrome, including our son, Tyler. We will be walking on Sunday, May 3 as team 5p- Hogs at 4:00 PM at Lake Willastein Park in Maumelle, AR. We will meet in front of the bunkers. We would love for you to join us for our walk, or if you are unable to join us locally, you can walk wherever you are, whenever you want! The registration fee for the walk is $5 plus a handling fee of $2. If you would like to make a donation in Tyler's name, or are unable to participate in the actual walk, you can make a donation here. The name on the fundraiser page is Lora Piepergerdes. Thank you so much for helping support Tyler and the 5p- Society! The 5p- Society has been instrumental in helping our family on our journey.

About Virtual 5k for 5p-
Each year in the United States, approximately 50 to 60 children are born with 5p- Syndrome (five p minus), also known as Cat Cry Syndrome or Cri du Chat Syndrome. 5p- Syndrome is characterized at birth by a high pitched cry, low birth weight, poor muscle tone, microcephaly, and potential medical complications. "5p-" is a term used by geneticists to describe a portion of chromosome number five that is missing in these individuals. 5p deletion is a spectrum disorder. Founded in 1986, the 5p- Society's mission is to encourage and facilitate communication among families having a child with 5p- Syndrome and also to spread awareness and education of the syndrome to these families and their service providers. As the society continues to forge a path ahead for the awareness, advocacy, and support of our families with Cri Du Chat, we continue to need financial support. The financial support that the society gains will allow more families to be touched positively as our loved ones grow and develop. Your support and participation in the Virtual 5k for 5p- is appreciated! The 5p- Society is a recognized 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
