About M.O.M.'s Run 5K Walk & Run for Cancer
The 13th Annual Mary O’Brien Memorial Run (M.O.M’s Run) is a 5K run and walk and kid’s race in Davis Square, Somerville. M.O.M’s Run is a family-oriented community event that has raised over $106,000 benefiting the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. M.O.M.’s Run honors Mary (Pilotte) O'Brien, a longtime Somerville resident, who lost her brief battle to lung cancer on November 19th, 2002. Mary was involved in many local community organizations throughout her life, and dedicated much of her time to helping others. A full 100% of the funds raised by M.O.M.'s Run benefits the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, widely recognized as one of the largest and most successful programs of its kind. Barr Investigators have made numerous major breakthroughs resulting in improved survival rates and higher quality of life for thousands of patients everywhere. We are committed to reaching the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
