About This Event
The BElieve fun run has been held annually now for the last 5 years!! The first year in 2016 was put on to support Brooke Ellefsen and her family as she was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. Originally given a prognosis of 2 years with treatment, Brooke is now at 5 years and going strong in spite of occasional setbacks!
November is lung cancer awareness month, so each of the last five years this event has been held to raise funds for lung cancer research. To date, with your support, we have donated 10's of thousands of dollars to lung cancer research. Ongoing lung cancer research is such an important area of cancer research, not only for Brooke but for too many other women in her situation. The medications Brooke is currently on were not available when she was diagnosed and without which she would very likely no longer be with us. Lung cancer continues to be the leading cause of cancer deaths but receives the least amount of federal research funding, making events like these paramount for ongoing research.
Course
The course will begin and end at Prairie View Elementary School parking lot. Ryan Wiser, our awesome local Physical Education teacher, has laid out an out and back course through the neighboring community avoiding all major traffic routes.
