Awards & Age Divisions
Barefoot 5K Award Age Groups: Top Overall M & F totally barefoot get $50 Cash Each. To win this, one must start and finish barefoot. In addition, the Top M & F in age groups: under 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 +. These age group awards will be given to any runner no matter if they are barefoot, minimalist or shod.
Registration & Check-In
Saturday: DCR's Artesani Park, Boston, MA 9AM-1PM. Same Day Registration & Pre-Registration Check-In: Bib #, T-Shirt & Packet Pickup at the registration tent located at the DCR’s Artesani Park, 1234 Soldiers Field RD, Boston, MA, 02135. Packets for both days can be picked up on Saturday.

Sunday: Good Harbor Beach private section, Gloucester, MA 10AM-12PM. Same Day Registration & Pre-Registration Check-In: T-Shirt & Packet Pickup at the registration tent.

Race Course
The Saturday race is a scenic, safe, fast and flat 5K course that starts at the DCR's Artesani Park in Brighton (Boston) along the paved trails by the Charles River and continues along the river over the Western Avenue Bridge into Cambridge along Greenough Boulevard by the Charles River to the Eliot Bridge and back to the DCR's Artesani Park.

The Sunday Beach run is a 3 mile up and back distance at the Private section of Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. Runners can choose to turn back at any time to run the desired distance.
Barefoot Defined
Though this event and the BBRF 5K are namesake of barefoot, anyone who registers is welcome to run/take a workshop barefoot, in running sandals, minimalist running footwear or in traditional running shoes. This registered event is open to whatever one decides to run with on or off their foot . Anyone can at any time add or remove footwear to maintain each person's comfort level EXCEPT FOR THE RACE. When taking a workshop one will become familiar with the differences between having the foot covered and feeling the ground as an option. No participant will be advised to do anything beyond comfort level. It is suggested to do research on the Internet before the workshop/s for all newbies.
T-Shirts
Cotton T-Shirts are included and available to the 1st 100 people who register. All registered participants will receive a cotton T-Shirt. Shirts will be handed out during registration and extra shirts may be available during race day which will be free with same day registration should there be any surplus..
Boston Barefoot Running Festival
The 2nd annual Boston Barefoot Running Festival and BBRF 5K will occur on September 14th and September 15th, 2013 from 10AM to 3PM both days. New this year is the Saturday catered cookout after the BBRF 5K at the DCR's Artesani Park from 1PM to 3PM, a FREE Speakers Presentation at MIT on early Saturday evening and a New England Clambake by the beach on Sunday afternoon from 120:30PM to 4PM. Saturday’s event is located at the DCR's Artesani Park in Boston and Sunday’s event is located at the private side of Good Harbor Beach, Gloucester, MA. The Boston Barefoot Running Festival has been created to educate, inform and bring together those interested in natural running form and proper running technique. The event encourages barefoot and minimalist runners and strives to provide a social and educational platform to meet barefoot legends and fellow barefoot runners in a positive, fun and learning atmosphere.

11AM-12PM Professionally timed BBRF 5K Race around the Charles River (Pending USATF Course Certification) on a flat, fast and scenic course.
12PM-1PM Awards Ceremony
1PM-3PM Catered Cookout and Social.
4PM-6PM Free Speaker Presentation at MIT.

Day 2 Schedule: Sunday, September 15th private section of Good Harbor Beach, Gloucester, MA)

11AM-12PM Barefoot Running Clinic with Ken Bob Saxton and others.
12AM-12:30PM A 3 Mile up and back Barefoot Beach Run where runners can choose their distance.

Directions & Parking
Saturday: The DCR's Artesani Park is located on the Charles River at 1234 Soldiers Field Road, Brighton (Boston), MA 02135 across from Days Inn. The race will start and end at the DCR's Artesani Park. The DCR's Artesani Park has a large parking lot. It takes no more than 1 minute to go from the car to the race start.

Sunday: Good Harbor Beach private section in Gloucester, MA. Park at the Good Harbor Beach Parking lot on Thacher Road. There will be a 10K race starting at 9AM where runners will be parking in that lot. Parking is free and runners will arrive in the lot from 7:30 to 8:30. The race will go from 9AM to 11AM and if you can not find a space the 1st try, try again. It is the only space in the area.
Weather Conditions
The Boston Barefoot Running Festival and BBRF 5K will be held in the event of rain. The event would be cancelled if there are severe weather warnings.
