The Event
This event is part of a full day of recognition that celebrates the life and service of Lt. Timothy Steele who was
killed in action on August 23, 2011 while serving our Nation in Afghanistan. Lt. Steele was assigned to the 2ndBattalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division based out of Fort Drum, NY.
Lt. Timothy Steele was a 2004 graduate of Duxbury High School where he was a standout swimmer, and track and
cross country runner. He was part of large, loving family who is well known throughout the Duxbury community.
Tim was also a 2009 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and he earned numerous
medals associated with his service including the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and the Combat Infantrymen's Badge - all awarded posthumously. During an interview before his deployment, Tim indicated his primary motivation for serving was to ensure a better future for his daughter, Liberty.
Tim is survived by his wife Meaghan, and young daughter, Liberty. Tim’s commitment to his country, community,
faith, and family are a testament to his character. All proceeds support the Lt. Timothy J. Steele Memorial Fund.
