Aaron's 5K Fun Run For CDH
Come join us for a great event to raise awareness for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). Run!! Walk!! Crawl!! We don't care, just as long as your here!! This event will be on October 3rd, 2015, At Forest River Park Salem MA. Registration is at 8 a.m. and the runners will begin at 9 a.m. Immediately following the run we will be celebrating Aaron's 1st birthday with a cake and balloon release so we would love for as many people to be there as possible. For those who cannot attend in person, virtual registration is available so you can run/walk 5k anywhere you might be, to help raise CDH awareness all over.

October 1st, 2014 Aaron Kane Boyd (son of David Boyd & Kim Gannon) entered this world and opened our eyes to a horrible condition known as CDH - Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. He fought a courageous battle for his life with an amazing team of the best doctors in the country treating him. His parents stayed by his side day and night for 45 days straight to show him nothing but love. Sadly, despite all efforts, Aaron Kane Boyd passed away on November 14th, 2014.

CDH occurs when the diaphragm fails to form or close totally and an opening allows abdominal organs into the chest cavity. This inhibits lung growth causing pulmonary hypertension in almost all cases, and several other health complications. CDH is not rare and very little research is being done to change the statistics:
-1600 Babies are born with CDH each year in the US alone.
-Unfortunately 50% of those babies will never make it home.
-The other 50% are going home with a road of challenges ahead of them.
-The cause of CDH is still unknown.
-Your support can help save the lives of babies like Aaron.

By raising awareness we hope to bring light to a condition that causes tremendous pain and heartache for so many families around the world. As more people learn of CDH more funding and legislative support for research will be available. Each day they are getting closer to an effective means of in-utero treatment allowing lung growth and increasing odds of survival after birth. No-one should have to bury their baby and you can help save the CHERUBS!

The registration fee is $25.00 ($20.00 for virtual) - Register early for a T-Shirt! (deadline for a guaranteed t-shirt is 9/18. Please specify size when registering.) 100% of the proceeds from Aaron's 5K Fun Run For CDH will be donated to: C.H.E.R.U.B.S. (The Association of congenital diaphragmatic hernia research awareness and support) This charity offers help and support to CDH families who are expecting a cherub, lost a cherub, or still have a cherub fighting.
