Event Information
About this Event
Bedford Rotary Foundation presents its inaugural Bedford Rotary Run (and walk!), which starts/finishes at the Bedford High School Track (9 Mudge Way)! Registration opens at 8 AM, the kid's run at 9 AM and 2 and 5 milers kick off at 10 AM. There will be activities and music -- we look forward to seeing you all Saturday Morning, May 7. Finisher's Medals available for the first 400 -- T-Shirts available for the first 200 -- Mom's get a rose ;-)
BIB PICKUP & AFTER PARTY
Bib Pickup is scheduled from 3:30 PM till 7:30 PM on Friday, May 6 at RED HEAT TAVERN in Bedford (152 Great Road; Bedford MA). Feel free to come hang out!

Also, Red Heat Tavern in Bedford is hosting our post-run shindig! Come and join us for HALF PRICE APPETIZERS for all the participants.

PARKING AND BATHROOMS
There are a bunch of parking spaces at the high school and middle school parking lots. When you pull into the high school, the track is at the far end and while there may not appear to be a bunch of parking spots out front, there are MANY in the back (9 Mudge Way; Bedford, MA). Alternatively, the middle school is right near the track off of Railroad Ave (use the address; 99 McMahon Road; Bedford, MA for John Glenn Middle School).

BATHROOMS
There is an outdoor bathroom near the end of the track. There is also restrooms inside the high school, which is just a short walk from the track. When you enter the glass doors to the high school (on the side closest to the track), you go straight down a small set of stairs and the bathrooms will be straight ahead of you.
REGISTRATION
REGSITRATION
Opens at 8 AM
Closes at 9:45 AM
Look for your greeters. They will have your numbers and you can head to pre-registration. We will be asking you for your number -- we hope this will make the process quick. Your feedback is appreciated. If you have a friend that always waits till race day to sign up (like I usually do), their cost will be $45. They will sign up at a separate table and may be able to get a shirt while they last! We will accept cash or credit card or check. Checks can be made payable to the Bedford Rotary Foundation.
COURSE
The 5 and 2 milers will both begin when you cross the track at the 50 yard line while on the track. Line up by time and walkers to the back. The bibs all have timers and start when you cross the start line so no rush ;-)

The 5 milers exit the track and turn left; the 2-milers turn right. Then when the 5-milers come back, they will hug Railroad Ave back up to the track the same way they came. Once back on the track, runners will take a hard right turn and do 3/4 lap finish on the track to end where they started. The 2-milers will come up Railroad Ave along the sidewalk and turn right near the bleachers. They'll enter the track and hug the outside of it until they cross the finish line back at the 50 yard line.

The 5-miler has 1 water stop around the 1/2-way point (around the top of the only small hill we could find). The 2-miler has no water stops, please plan accordingly.

Kids will run 200 meters at 9 AM after a warm-up with GroovWrx around 8 AM.

About Rotary
Rotary International is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.

Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community's business and professional men and women. The world's Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.

The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

Although Rotary clubs develop autonomous service programs, all Rotarians worldwide are united in a campaign for the global eradication of polio. Rotary has provided an army of volunteers to promote and assist at national immunization days in polio-endemic countries around the world.
