About the “Fight the Bite 5K”
Kick off "West Nile Virus and Mosquito Control Awareness Week" with the “Fight the Bite 5K” organized by the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District. “Fight the Bite 5K” aims to raise awareness about the dangers of mosquito-borne diseases right here in the Coachella Valley and what can be done to prevent mosquito breeding and mosquito bites. The run is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities - families, friends, and colleagues are all encouraged to participate. Come Fight the Bite! Together.
The 5K Course
Enjoy the fast, flat course, beautiful desert landscape with panoramic views of the Santa Rosa Mountains. This is a runner, walker, and stroller-friendly road race starting and finishing at the La Quinta Civic Center Park. *Race begins at 8:00am!
Health and Community Resource Fair
We are inviting Coachella Valley government and community organizations to take part in a Health and Community Resource Fair at the La Quinta Civic Center Park. This is a great opportunity to learn more about city and county services, information on health related topics, and get some free mosquito repellent, a fly swatter, and other freebies! The Health and Resource Fair will be open from 8am-12pm and is open to everyone whether or not you participate in the 5K.
Registration: When and what’s included
Participants are strongly encouraged to pre-register online by Thursday, April 1st. All registered participants will receive a race shirt, race goody bag, and a finisher’s medal! People can continue to register online after April 1st but T-shirt sizes will be limited.
Awards
Finisher medals for all 5K participants! The race will be professionally timed and awards will be given by age group, male and female, through 85+ years young.
Early Packet Pick-Up
Early packet pick-up will be held on Friday, April 15th, at the District office – 43420 Trader Place, Indio, CA 92201, between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.
Parking
Parking will be available in the lots located at the La Quinta Wellness Center, as well as, the public lot at the La Quinta Civic Center Park.
Onsite packet pick-up & late registration
Begins at 7:00am. Late registration will also be available the morning of the race for $35 (cash only) at the packet pick-up table. Onsite registration closes 7:45am.
