If you cannot participate in the Shipyard Maine Coast events, you can transfer your registration to one of our other events, which include the Salomon Trail Running Festival at Pineland Farms and the Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon and 5k. (We do not offer any other relay events).
The deadline for transferring to another race is Friday, April 14th.
Refund Policy and Refund Option
We offer a flexible refund policy. Your best option is to purchase the Refund Option when you register. It is a set amount, and can be exercised anytime prior to the start of the race. The Refund Option is like buying registration insurance that protects you from unexpected events. We realize that life happens and sometimes it's not possible or advisable for runners to participate in a race. Sometimes runners suffer injuries while training, learn that they're pregnant, get called to perform military duty, lose a job, or must attend to a family emergency. Sometimes races get cancelled due to acts of God.

Refund Option Rules:
If you purchase the Refund Option at the time of registration, you can request a refund anytime prior to the start of the race. Requests for refunds must be made by completing the form on the Refunds & Deferrals page of our website. If the race is cancelled, you may request a refund only if you purchased the refund option at the time of registration. Refunds will be credited to the credit card used for registration.
If you do not purchase the Refund Option when you register, we will refund partial amounts through 11:59pm EST on April 14, 2017. You need to use the form on the Refunds & Deferrals page of our website to request the refund.

All refunds will be processed through Race Wire, our online registration company. No cash or checks will be sent.

Refund Option Costs (when purchased at Registration):
Half Marathon: $10
Marathon: $15
39.3 Challenge: $25

(See our website for refund options if not purchased at time of registration)
Cancellation Policy
Although rare, sometimes races must be cancelled due to unexpected unsafe race conditions i.e. Hurricane Irene in 2011 and Hurricane Sandy in 2012. If there is an event due to an act of God that is beyond the Race Director\'s control i.e. hurricane, dangerously high heat index >105, or a state of emergency is declared by municipal authorities the race will be cancelled. If a race is cancelled due to an act of God it will not be postponed and no refunds will be given unless you purchased the refund option at the time of registration.
Full Dye Sublimation Race Shirts
The race entry fee does not include a race shirt, shirts must be purchased separately (VIP registrants are an exception to this). Our 2017 short sleeve shirts are full dye sublimation shirts, not silk screened shirts.
Minimum Age Requirements
Based on RRCA recommendations our minimum age is 13* for the Shipyard Maine Coast Half Marathon and 18* for the Shipyard Maine Coast Marathon and Maine Coast 39.3 Challenge.

*Age on race day.
Time Limit
While we would like to include everyone at our finish line and we realize that sometimes even the best training plans can "go south" on race day, we have to set time limits on the races. We have contracts with police and we have gracious and dedicated volunteers. We need to adhere to the schedules that we provide them. As they leave the course, it will no longer be safe for you to be on the course. For that reason, you need to complete the Half Marathon in 3 hours, 15 minutes and the Marathon in 6 hours, 30 minutes. If you are still on either course at this point, we will offer you a ride to the finish, for your safety. For the same safety reasons, we do not offer an early start.
Beneficiaries
The Shipyard Maine Coast Half Marathon benefits Southern Maine Health Care's (SMHC) Center for Breast Care.

We encourage runners in all of the events to donate to SMHC's Center for Breast Care and/or start a fund raising page. We also work with 12-15 non-profits and clubs to raise money through staffing our aid stations during the marathon on Sunday.
Wait List
As each of the subevents sells out (Marathon, Half Marathon and 39.3 Challenge), we will turn on the Wait List registration. When you register for a Wait List, you will pay the full amount for registration and you will get a confirmation from RaceWire. When we move you from the Wait List to a confirmed spot, we will text and/or email you so that you know you are confirmed.
If you register for the Wait List and do not get a confirmed spot, we will issue a refund to your credit card for the registration fee, less a $1.00 refund fee and the processing fee that RaceWire charges. In 2014, 2015 and 2016 all Wait List runners were moved to the confirmed list. Please see our Refunds/Deferrals page on mainecoast262.com for more details on the Wait List
