Event Information
Tarentino Strong 5k run/walk
All monies raised will go to the Officer Ronald Tarentino Jr. Charitable Fund. We have chosen to hold the family friendly fun run/walk for a second time as a way to honor all that Officer Tarentino continues to stand for in Leicester and in Auburn. Officer Tarentino was a respected, well loved police officer who served with distinction in both towns. He also was a true family man who loved spending time with his family. We hope this run will bring both communities and everyone involved closer and honor Officer Tarentino and all of the men and women in blue who continue to work to protect and serve for us. The goal of the fund is to provide educational scholarships and to help people who have experienced catastrophic circumstances (illness, serious injury, death of a loved one, etc.) by providing financial support and/or donating items that can assist in their recovery. Example: COPS for Kids with Cancer, families of first responders and scholarships in 3 communities throughout Ma.
Race Registration
Registration will be offered online until Monday, April 16th, 2018. T-shirts are only available to all on line registrants. We will also offer registration at bib pick up on Saturday, April 28th, 2018 at the Leicester Rod and Gun Club. IMPORTANT to know there will be NO registration on the day of the event!
Race Course
The start of the race will take place in the Leicester High school parking lot next to the Wolverine statue. Runners and walkers will head out of the High School, cross over Rte 56 and head down Whittemore Street. Runners and walkers will then turn right on to White Birch Street followed by another right onto Sconset Street. Runners and walkers will then head back on the same route and finish at Leicester High School.
Parking
Parking will be available at the middle school parking lot, town hall and senior center. The best parking will be at Walmart. Walmart will have buses leaving 8:00AM -9:30AM bringing participants to Leicester High School. Buses will then begin making return trip starting at 11:00AM. Handicap parking will be available at the primary school parking lot.
Fun run/walk rules
This year runners and walkers will have different bib colors to enable a staggered start to prevent any crowding on the course. Volunteers will help control the starting area to make sure everyone is seeded correctly. Please remember that this is a family fun event so strollers are welcome. We respectfully request no animals due to liability reasons and the size of the event.
Bib pick up
We will be offering bib number pick up Saturday, April 28th, 2018 at the Leicester Rod and Gun Club between 1:00PM-6:00PM. Raffles and last chance registration will be offered. T-shirts are only guaranteed to those who registered during online registration.
Awards
Awards will be offered to the top 3 male and female finishers. Age group awards will be given to the top finishers in both male and female age groups, 18 and under, 19-29, 30-49, 50+
Race day fun
We plan on having food trucks and raffles offered during and after race weather permitting.
