Emily's Hipsters's Fundraising Page
My niece Emily was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at a very young age and has been through numerous surgeries and more are scheduled her way. I decided to join her team to help raise awareness. You can help us raise awareness about hip dysplasia by participating in the walk or making a donation.

About Hip Hop 5k/10k
Help us reach our fundraising goal by race day!! The Hip Hop 5K/10K works with the Hip Program at Boston Childrens and seeks to raise awareness and funding for all those battling hip dysplasia from new borns to adults. Hip Dysplasia affects thousands of people each year from newborns to adult and is the #1 cause of hip arthritis. It is a painful process where the ball slips in and out of the socket, which causes the hip to wear out much faster than normal. Think of a car's tires and how they wear out faster when the car is out of alignment. Surgery to treat the condition is long, painful, and invasive and multiple surgeries are needed more often than not. Life- long disability can result and regardless of the length of treatment, the financial, emotional, and physical impact on families and patients is severe. More than 90% of the young and older adult cases can't be diagnosed in childhood by the current methods of screening and the three most common words heard in the process of treating hip dysplasia are "I don't know." The Hip Hop 5K seeks to play a lead roll in changing that.
