About 2017 JB Blastoff 5K Run/Walk
Well, another one of my dreams came true...I have been fortunate enough to be chosen to run the 2017 Boston Marathon for Dana-Farber Team! This will be my second time around running the Boston Marathon. I struggled the first time around with a pretty rough injury but was still able to finish with the push of great friends. This time around I will be running in memory of my father Joseph "Butchy" Basile. As many of you know, my father was my rock, hero, best friend and the greatest father anyone could ever ask for. Running on the Dana-Farber Team and to wear my dads name on my back means a lot to me. My first experience at Dana-Farber was something I will never forget. We were all so nervous wondering what was going through my dads head when we walked through those doors. The minute we walked in, everyone there was so upbeat, full of life and love. Not once did he ever feel that he was a patient or even "sick". My dad actually looked forward to seeing people he met during his treatments. It was truly a peaceful and comforting place for him to be. With that said, I decided to apply for the Dana-Farber Team because I believe they do many good things for people that are ill and in need of help during these difficult times. They really do focus on making everyone's experience a memorable one. It certainly was for me and I would like nothing more than to raise money and give back so everyone could have the same experience we did.
