On Sunday, October 16th, I will be running in Pam's Run for my 4th consecutive year. Pam's Run is a 5 or 10 kilometer road race in my hometown of Wayland, Massachusetts. The race honors the memory and legacy of Pamela Washek, my best friend Kathryn Washek's mother who lost her battle to cancer in 2012. Pam dedicated the last ten years of her life to the nonprofit that she started, Neighbor Brigade.
Neighbor Brigade is an organization that establishes and mobilizes community-based networks of volunteers to provide immediate and free assistance to neighbors experiencing sudden crises such as cancer treatment, illness, accident, or other tragedy. The assistance ranges from dropping off a home cooked meal to a family in need, to driving the kids home from soccer practice.
Neighbor Brigade is a great cause that is very near and dear to me and I would really appreciate any and all support/donations. All proceeds from the run go directly to Neighbor Brigade.
Additional information about the event, Kathryn's mom, and her organization can be found at www.pamsrun.com
