On October 21, 2017 I will walk with the Samaritans of Merrimack Valley to raise awareness, funds, and support for suicide prevention. Suicide prevention is something that hits close to home with me. Through my personal experience with suicide, losing my boyfriend, Calvin, as well as the many other ways suicide has touched my life I feel compelled to fight against suicide. The funding raised by this event will benefit the Samaritans of Merrimack Valley. After losing Calvin I sought out a support group provided by the Samaritans. This support group is one of the main reasons I was able to get through that difficult time. Now I am lucky enough to work for the Samaritans as their Training Coordinator. The services provided by the Samaritans of Merrimack Valley go far beyond the support groups. They also provide trainings and workshops for individuals who work with people at risk for suicide, attempt survivor support groups, a 24/7 free/confidential crisis helpline, and much more! These services would not be possible without the donations from our generous supporters.
The Samaritans of Merrimack Valley is a non-profit program of Family Services of the Merrimack Valley located in Lawrence, MA. They are the only suicide prevention and Postvention program servicing the Northeast region of the state of Massachusetts. These funds will allow services to be provided within our community for people impacted by suicide and mental health challenges.
Thank you!
