I am walking to raise money for Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong (MASS) and self-advocates we serve. This year in April our offices were destroyed by a flood. That same month we also lost a dedicated member, and past Board Chairperson, Janet Laperle. We will be walking to raise money for MASS to REBUILD and give a SPECIAL TRIBUTE to Janet Laperle and all self-advocates that have passed away over the years.
As many of you know my late brother, Sean Kremer, has always been my main motivator in developing and supporting programs for people with disabilities. I am fortunate to have an opportunity to remember Sean in my work each and every day at MASS. One exciting thing that MASS will offer later this winter is a training we developed in partnership with the Department of Public Health (DPH) titled, 'Healthy Self-Advocates Communicating with Health Professionals'. As some of you know I was fortunate to work with Sean on the creation of a training for hospital staff and clinicians before he passed away. This new training with DPH will serve as a peer training for self-advocates and individuals like my brother.
