On April 20, 2013, I am participating in the Urban Runoff 5k & walk in Portland, ME. Funds from the race support clean water education programs in schools in the greater Portland and Saco areas. These programs put youth in the center of science, decision-making and our community. Programs are interactive and interdisciplinary, and focus on teaching students how to care for our water and strengthen our community. For more information, please visit http://www.urbanrunoff5k.com/p/education.html.

Please help me support these programs by sponsoring my participation in the Urban Runoff! Your donation is tax deductible.

About Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District
Our community - health, economy, way of life - depends on clean water. Polluted runoff threatens the health of Maine's lakes, streams, rivers and bays.

Runoff is water that flows over the surface of the ground, picking up pollution before it flows into nearby waterbodies. Runoff happens after any rain storm, and in Maine we see a lot of runoff in the springtime when the snow melts.
