Because of our personal experience with Evan going into septic shock last summer, I have signed up for the #gistrong 5k on Mother’s Day! The Gianna Cirella Memorial Fund has been established to provide assistance for sepsis research, education and to children and their families who have been affected by sepsis. At 16 years old Gianna went into septic shock after developing a sore throat and then pneumonia, and then sepsis. She fought a courageous battle but ultimately lost the battle against sepsis. Her family started The Gianna Cirella Memorial Fund to raise awareness and education about sepsis. They have done an amazing job which has helped so many families and children, including Evan successfully fight sepsis. We are so grateful for all their efforts.
