Shipyard Maine Coast Marathon & Maine Coast Half Marathon

Dear friends and family,
I'm doing my first half marathon May 9th, the Shipyard Maine Coast Half Marathon! I'm hoping to do more than just run in this year's Shipyard Maine Coast Half Marathon, I want to make a difference. I'm fundraising to benefit SMHC’s Center for Breast Care because breast cancer affects almost everyone either directly or indirectly. Unfortunately, breast cancer has become an all too common occurrence among women and men here in our community. Now is the time to take action to help end this disease. The more funds that I raise, the sooner we can end this fight. 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1000 men will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of his/her lifetime. Death rates for people with breast cancer have been decreasing over the last 25 years and that is mostly due to the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness. Please help me fundraise to find a way to stop breast cancer and help those affected. My goal is $200 and every bit helps.

About Maine Coast Marathon & Maine Coast Half Marathon
We have partnered with Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC) and their Center for Breast Care. We will be donating a large portion of the proceeds from the Maine Coast Half Marathon and the Bosom Buddy Relay directly to SMHC's Center for Breast Care. We ask that you take a minute and consider running for something bigger than you. As SMHC tells us, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. All of us know someone who has been diagnosed. Think of the person you know and then think how your fundraising could make a difference for that person and the next person that is diagnosed.
