About The Governor Cellucci Tribute Road Race
Upon being diagnosed with ALS, Governor Paul Cellucci partnered with the Commonwealth's only public medical school, the University of Massachusetts Medical School, to create the UMass ALS Cellucci Fund. His goal was to create a $10 million endowment to seed the boldest research ideas in the interdisciplinary labs under the direction of his physician, Dr. Robert H. Brown Jr., one of the world’s foremost authorities on ALS. When Governor Cellucci passed on June 8, 2013, he had raised $2 million. To date, the Fund has now raised almost $4 million. The Governor Cellucci Tribute Road Race is the Cellucci Family's Annual Event to gather elite runners, his hometown community, and family, friends and supporters from far and wide to compete with pride and determination, to run and walk together, to reach the fundraising goal of the Governor's last campaign. And with great anticipation, the Cellucci Family reports that, just since last year's Inaugural Race, Dr. Brown's research team has made astounding leaps on the path to a cure! The more we raise together, the quicker we enable greater possibilities for the research breakthroughs that Governor Cellucci envisioned when he created the UMass ALS Cellucci Fund.
