I don't remember September 11th. What I do remember is each year growing up and learning more and more about 9/11 around the time of its anniversary. I saw pictures, watched videos, and learned about the tragic events that unfolded across the United States on that day. One story in particular that touched me was that of Welles Crowther. On September 11th, Welles and so many others did not just lose their lives. They showed the world what true, lasting character is and what it means. Welles was a young man that had everything going for him. A good job, a loving family, and his whole future ahead of him. And yet in an act of utter selflessness he gave it all up to help those in need. He died protecting others, he died saving those that could not save themselves. It's so important to remember Welles and all those who, like him, exemplified the best and truest type of person on September 11th. It's so important to use their example to better ourselves.
