Hi friends! Zoe and I are celebrating our 21st birthday by completing the Daffodil Run for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Hampshire County on April 30th, 2017. About The Daffodil Run
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County provides youth with life changing one-to-one mentoring relationships. Growing up can be hard work, especially for young people facing difficult challenges. Research has shown that most successful adults had the support of a mentor or role model who helped them develop self-esteem and new perspectives on the world. Noel is just one youth in our program who gained a new perspective after being matched with his mentor, Scott. “When Noel and I were introduced nearly six years ago, he was a 10-year-old kid. When we discovered our shared interest in hiking local mountains, I assumed we\'d soon exchange stories about Mt. Sugarloaf or Holyoke, but then quickly realized his version of ‘climbing mountains’ meant the snowbank at the end of his street.” After years of friendship as a result of being matched by Big Brothers Big Sisters, Scott says that he and Noel have climbed many mountains as well as snow banks. And they’ve enjoyed many other adventures and heart-to-heart talks. “I like to think that we\'re both better off because we know each other, and thanks to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County there is no question we\'ll be lifelong friends.” Daffodil Runners are supporting the important work of Big Brothers Big Sisters!
