Hip Hopping for Ellie's Fundraising Page
In July 2017, at 15 months old, our Eleanor "Ellie" was diagnosed with Developmental Hip Dysplasia. By the end of the month she had undergone a closed reduction and was placed in a spica cast for 16 weeks. She then graduated to a Rhino brace, something she still sleeps in every night. During this time we were supported by our friends and family in so many ways. We were also supported by the amazing team at Boston Children's Hospital. Participating in the DDH walk is one way for us to give back, connect with other DDH families and help educate. Hip dysplasia is something every child is checked for multiple times during those first precious months, yet the awareness (including our own) is very little.

About Hip Hop 5k/10k
The Hip Hop 5K/10K was started by hip dysplasia patient Emily Cioffi in 2013 in response to the need for better treatment and awareness of hip dysplasia for patients of all ages; newborns to adults. In the past 5 years it has grown to become a prominent town event in Easton, MA drawing in participants from all over the country. We pride ourselves on an organized registration system, timely start, and an excellent volunteer staff throughout the race course. The road race committee works hard year round to aid in promoting awareness and fundraising to assist Boston Children’s Hospital Orthopaedic Hip Program, and the IHDI in their research to develop better, more efficient methods of diagnosis, as well as less invasive forms of treatment to hopefully minimize the severe physical and mental repercussions of hip dysplasia. As we continue to grow, we hope you will join us to help us reach this years goal of 40,000 and over 600 participants!
