Event Information
Tarentino Strong 5k run/walk 2019
100% of all money raised in this event raised will go to the Officer Ronald Tarentino Jr. Charitable Fund. This event is a family friendly way to honor all that Officer Tarentino continues to stand for along with the great work the charitable fund continues to do. Officer Tarentino was a respected, well loved police officer who served with distinction in both the towns of Leicester and Auburn. He also was a true family man who loved spending time with his family. The mission of the Officer Ronald Tarentino Jr. Charitable Fund is to provide educational scholarships and to help people who have experienced catastrophic circumstances (illness, serious injury, death of a loved one, etc.) by providing financial support and/or donating items that can assist in their recovery. For example, the charity has worked with COPS for Kids with Cancer, donated to families of fallen or injured first responders and provided scholarships to high school students in three communities throughout Massachusetts.
Race Registration
Registration Fees:
Online registration opens February 1st and closes on April 25th.
- February 1st - March 1st = $25.00
- March 2nd - April 24th at 10:00 pm = $30.00
Online registration will remain open until 10:00pm on Wednesday, April 24th, 2019. T-shirts are guaranteed only to all online registrants. We will also offer registration at bib pick up on Friday, April 26th, Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at the Leicester Rod and Gun Club and at the event registration table on the morning of the race for $35.00 per participant.
Race Course
The start of the race will take place in the Leicester High school parking lot next to the Wolverine statue. Runners and walkers will head out of the High School, cross over Rte 56 and head down Whittemore Street. Runners and walkers will then turn right on to White Birch Street followed by another right onto Sconset Street. Runners and walkers will then head back on the same route and finish at Leicester High School. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of runners and walkers in the previous years, law enforcement and the race director will not be allowing dogs (special service animals are allowed) to walk/run on the race route.
Parking
Parking will be available at the Leicester Middle School parking lot, Leicester Town Hall and Leicester Senior Center. The best parking for the event will be at the Leicester Walmart, 20 Soojian Drive, Leicester, MA. The Walmart parking location will have buses leaving 8:00AM - 9:30AM bringing participants to the event location at Leicester High School. Buses will then begin making return trips starting at 11:00AM following the conclusion of the event. Handicap and Team Hoyt parking will be available at the Leicester Primary School.
Bib pick up
We will be offering bib number pick up and race registration on Friday, April 26th from 5:00pm - 6:30pm and on Saturday, April 27th from 9:30am - 11:30am at the Leicester Rod and Gun Club. Registration at bib pick up or on race day is $35.00 per participant. The Leicester Rod and Gun Club is located at 1015 Whittemore Street in Leicester, MA.
Awards
Awards will be offered to the top 3 overall male and female finishers. Age group awards will be given to the top finishers in both male and female age groups, 18 and under, 19-29, 30-49, 50+. Awards will also be given to the top three "First Responders" and top three teams (minimum of 5 runners).
