What is a virtual race?
A virtual race is a run that can do on your own and it could be done anywhere. You can run, walk, hop, skip, etc. While it is OK to run or walk on a treadmill, we are hoping to get people outside. A captive parrot is on lockdown every day. World-wide lockdowns have provided us all with the idea of what it is like to not be free; to not reach our full potential. So get outside! :-)

How Does it Work?
Run and time yourself. You can use your watch or a smartphone with a running or walking app.

Can I Participate if I do not live in or near Rhode Island?
YES! This is a great opportunity to be a part of Sneaks for Beaks 5k regardless of where you live. Use social media to publicize your run and to raise donations for Foster Parrots, Ltd. You DO NOT have to raise money but the more you do, the more money to support the animal sanctuary!
Show the online world your efforts! Post selfies, post course pics, etc.

Important: When registering, please click the button: "Sign up to Fundraise" where you can create your custom fundraising page (in seconds) and share with your friends and loved ones or even loved ones who are friends. You have until the end of the day May 15, 2021 to donate.

Will there be any prizes to those who raise the most money?*
YES! YES! While our goal is to raise money for the parrots, we do want you to have fun as well. The first three participants who raise the most money will each receive an extra T-shirt (you choose size).
In addition, the top three fundraisers will each receive a book by Foster Parrots' own, Brian Jones, "Does it Talk" which includes some of his favorite photos from Foster Parrots birds in 2020.
WAIT, THERE'S MORE! IN ADDITION, the highest fundraiser will also receive an original piece of abstract art from long-time Foster Parrots supporter and wonderful artist, Naomi Silver. T-shirts will be mailed to each participant with the address you use for registration within 4 weeks from 5/15/2021. No shipping costs for T-shirts but please consider donating a little extra so cover this cost.

*T-shirt and Photobooks will be mailed within 4 weeks of May 15, 2021. Original art by Naomi will be mailed directly to the highest fundraiser.

Results / Result Submission
We accept results on the honor system, so you can track your distance and time however you like. The most accurate way to do this is by using a running GPS watch, but there are also several free smartphone apps available for iPhones and Android devices.

Please use the link in your confirmation email to submit your results between 5/15/2021 12:00 AM and 5/15/2021 11:59 PM.

Results will be posted to RaceWire on 5/16/2021.

I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter unless I am medically able and properly trained. I also know that there will be traffic on the race course route. I assume the risk of running in traffic. I also assume any and all other risks associated with running this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, the effect of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, and the condition of the roads, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry fee, I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, or anyone else who might claim on my behalf, covenant not to sue, and waive, release and discharge all race officials, local government and police, volunteers, any and all sponsors including their agents, employees, assigns or anyone acting on their behalf, from any and all claims of death, personal injury, or property damage of any kind or nature whatsoever arising out of, or in the course of, my participation in this event. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.
