Event Information
We are happy to announce RCA Westminster’s 1st Annual Race to Recover! It is our mission to save 1,000,000 lives and break the stigma surrounding the disease of substance abuse by offering accessible, comprehensive and compassionate treatment to all those in need. We are helping to empower those struggling with their substance abuse recovery and support their loved ones through that journey one step at a time. We’d be delighted if you came to join us and our community for fun, food, music and community resources at our 5K race.
Our race starts and finishes at the Recovery Centers of America facility in Westminster, MA and encircles beautiful country scenery. All are welcome whether you’re a top-notch athlete or a first-time racer! Not interested in running? Walkers are welcome, too! Come enjoy the outdoors for a great cause!
So many of us have been touched by this disease in one way or another, and we believe that coming together with our local community members, runners, walkers, spectators, sponsors and volunteers will be a big step toward lessening the anguish and enhancing the well-being of those afflicted.
RCA Westminster is sponsoring this event and covering race related expenses. All money collected through the race registration process is being donated to the Joint Coalition on Health's Facing Addiction Project.
Assumption of Risk:
I know that running the Westminster Race to Recover 5k is a potentially hazardous activity, that could cause injury or death. I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I certify that I am medically able to participate in this event, I am in good health, and I am properly trained. I assume all risks associated with running in this event, including but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers, roller skates or roller blades, animals, and personal music players are not allowed in the race, and I will abide by all race rules.
WAIVER/RELEASE OF LIABILITY:
I hereby waive, release, discharge and covenant not to sue Recovery Centers of America its directors, officers, employees, and agents and all volunteers or organizers of the Westminster Race to Recover 5k (collective Recovery Centers of America) from all liability for any loss or damage, and any claim or demands therefore, whether caused by negligence otherwise, that may result from participating in the Westminster Race to Recover 5k. I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless Recovery Centers of America from any, loss, liability, damage or cost I may incur while participating in the Westminster Race to Recover 5k. I further expressly agree that the foregoing release waiver and indemnity agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by applicable law and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, the balance shall continue in full legal force and effect.
*PARTICIPANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST OBTAIN THE SIGNATURE OF A PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN.
