Information about the Race Course
Our inaugural 5K is held at Whalon Lake in Naperville, IL. A picturesque loop trail owned and managed by the Will County Forest Preserve, Whalon Lake also connects to the DuPage River Trail System. Registration Fee
Pre-Registration Fee is $35 and on-site registration is $40 for ages 4 and up. Children 0 to 3 years of age and in a stroller, are free with a paying registrant. The registrant must participate as a walker and line-up at the back of the line for the safety of all participants. Registration will close once we reach maximum capacity.
*Due to vendor commitments, t-shirts ARE NO LONGER included in your pre-registration cost for those who register after September 7, 2019. Additionally, those who register on-site will not receive a t-shirt.
Distance
The race is a USATF Certified 5K course. Our USATF course certificate number is IL16050NM .
Timing
Only the runners who pre-register will be timed. Those who register on-site will not be timed.
Parking
There are two parking options at Whalon Lake. One parking lot is near the Konicek Shelter. The second parking option is near the Lakeside Shelter, which is closest to the boating docks. Both parking options are within the Whalon Lake preserve and conveniently close to the race course. But, the race will begin and end near the Lakeside Shelter, which will also host the awards ceremony post-Race.
Directions
Whalon Lake is at the intersection of Royce Road and Lisson Road. You can access Royce Road from either Weber Road/Washington Blvd. or from Route 53. Route 53 runs parallel to Weber Road. If you are driving north on Weber Road, turn right on Royce Rd., and if you are driving north on Route 53, turn left on Royce Road. (The directions are reversed if driving south on Washington Road or Route 53.)
Awards
Awards will be given to the first place male and female runners. The Awards Ceremony will take place at the Lakeside Shelter and will commence after the last runner finishes the course.
Gear Check
There is no gear check. The parking is conveniently located near the race course and you may keep your belongings in your vehicle. However, we are not responsible for any stolen items.
Weather
There is no raincheck. We will run/walk rain or shine. If the race is cancelled due to strong weather advisories, a raincheck will not be issued. The proceeds from your donations will go to great use and benefit the Spirited Pearls Foundation.
Course Route
You will begin your route at the Start Line heading northbound and circle a little over halfway around the loop before coming to your first mile. You will continue around the loop, passing where you started the race, to round out mile two. Then, you will continue your loop and end at the Finish Line just short of where you started.
Bib Numbers
Bib numbers must be worn at all times during the 5K. It should be pinned to the front of the runner/walker. You may pick-up your bib and t-shirt pre-race. You may also pick-up your bib and t-shirt the day of the race.
Water Station
Drinking water will be provided at the Lakeside Shelter.
Medical Station
Medical aid will be available.
