About This Event
The Haunted Hound 5K and Kids Spooky Shuffle (Half Mile) is a charity run/walk to support Last Hope K9 Rescue: www.lasthopek9.org/about.
Last Hope K9 Rescue is a Massachusetts based all-volunteer run non-proft organization that rescues dogs from high-kill shelters in Central Arkansas and finds them loving homes in New England. All proceeds from this event will go directly to LHK9 for the vetting and care of the dogs in the foster program.
The 5K is open to all runners, walkers, dogs and strollers, and is a fast loop through scenic Newbury. The Spooky Shuffle is a half mile open to all ages up to 11 years old. The course is all within Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm.
This is a Halloween-themed event, and costumes are highly encouraged!
Course - 5K
The 5K will start and end at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm, taking runners on a quick loop into Newbury backroads.
Course - Kids Spooky Shuffle
The Spooky Shuffle is open to all kids age 11 and under. It is a half mile course within the farm on the main road leading into the farm. Parents are welcome to run with their children.

Awards
All human participants in both events will receive a t-shirt - please register by October 17th to ensure you get a shirt and it's the correct size. All canine participants will receive a goody bag.
Gift Cards will be awarded to:
1) The top 3 female and male finishers of the 5K
2) The first girl and boy finishers of the half mile
3) The first canine finisher of the 5K
Prizes will be awarded to:
1) Best Human Costume
2) Best Canine Costume
3) Best Group Costume

Participant Waiver for Race Registration:
I know that running a road race is potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I attest that I have read the rules of the race and agree to abide by them. I assume all risks associated with running in this event, including but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, roller skates or rollerblades, are not allowed in the race and I will abide by all race rules. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Haunted Hound 5k, Last Hope K9 Rescue, the Town of Newbury, Historic New England, all event sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose. I understand that this event does not provide for refunds in the event of a cancellation, and by signing this waiver, I consent that I am not entitled to a refund if the event is cancelled before or during the event.
