Event Information
About This Event
Discover Downtown Westbrook and Sunset Ridge host the 4th Annual Run the Ridge Trail Race on October 10, 2020. This is a trail and mowed path course bursting with autumn colors. We have three races - 5K, 10K, and a "K9 5K" (run with your dog).
An approximate map of the course, with elevation shown, is available on this page: http://downtownwestbrook.com/events/run-the-ridge-trail-race. If you have questions about the course, email runtheridgewestbrook@gmail.com.
Like last year, we will have a 10K course that does not loop. We are working on correcting the mileage from 2019, so stay tuned for a course map.
This race serves as a fundraiser for Discover Downtown Westbrook, to support their mission of economic and community revitalization in downtown Westbrook.
Race Day Schedule
K9 5K (canicross): 9 AM
10K: 9:30 AM
5K: 10 AM
There will be post-race food and water for all participants. There will also be a water station near registration and along the course. Awards for all races will be at 11 AM.
Times are subject to change, we will send a final update to all registrants the week of the race.
Registration Fees
Registration is just $25 - but it will go up to $30 over the summer, so register now to save!
Team Registration
We have a group discount of $5 per person if you register with a group of 4 or more! If everyone signs up at once, you'll get the discount automatically. If you sign up at different times (using the team sign up feature - best for groups who are paying separately), you will receive a $5 refund once you have at least 4 members.
Bonus: the biggest team overall (all three races combined) will win a prize! The winning team in 2019 had 31 runners!
Race Shirts
All runners that register by September 23 are guaranteed a super sweet, sport-tech race shirt. If you miss the cutoff, you can buy a shirt on race day for just $10! (Don't want to race but want a shirt? Email runtheridgewestbrook@gmail.com and we'll get you one!)
Parking
There is plenty of on-site parking, though we do encourage carpooling to maximize space. When you arrive, watch for parking volunteers to direct you to a spot.
Awards
The awards for ALL races will occur after all the races are completed, approximately 11 AM. For any winners who cannot stay until that time, we will connect with each one individually to get their award to them.
Awards will be given to the 1st place male and female in each race and the biggest team overall. Plus, we will be raffling off a prize and everyone who runs in the race will be entered to win!
We also track course records, so check those out if you want to try to beat the records! Course Records:
5K
Thomas Harvey - 19:07 (2019)
Rowan Driscoll - 23:02 (2019)
K9 5K (Canicross)
Jay Nutting - 15:28 (2019)
Rosalea Kimball - 17:41 (2019)
We will be tweaking the 10K course one more time to make sure the mileage is solid, so new course records will begin in 2020.

K9 5K (Canicross) Race Information
K9 5K (canicross) participants may only race with one dog and must be connected to their dog at all times, whether by wearing a belt that is connected to a secure harness on the dog or by using a leash that is connected to a harness. The leash cannot be connected to the dog's neck or head. We encourage use of a belt connected to a harness, as this is the safest and easiest way to participate in a canicross race. The dog must not be aggressive or vicious toward people or other dogs, and the owner is liable for any injuries caused by their dog to other runners, dogs, or event attendees.
Owners are also responsible for cleaning up after their dogs - please bring bags. We also encourage runners to bring a portable water bottle, though we will have water bowls available at the water station halfway through the course.

Cancellation Policy
While we do not anticipate the race being cancelled, if there is any extreme weather- e.g. thunderstorms, washed out course, etc. that causes a cancellation, the race will not be postponed and no refunds will be given.
If there is less severe weather (e.g. light rain) and we still hold the race, no refunds will be given to those who choose not to race.
Refund Policy
There are no refunds for any reason, but you may transfer your registration should you become unable to participate. Please contact runtheridgewestbrook@gmail.com for details on how to transfer.
Facility
There are restrooms available for use by the Sunset Ridge pool, to the left of the clubhouse. We will have directional signage, but find a volunteer if you cannot locate the restrooms.
There will be water at the food station and along the course, plus water dishes for dogs at the finish line and the food station.
