The course begins at the southeast corner of Lakewood Blvd. and Carson Blvd, right near the Veteran’s Memorial. Convenient parking is across Lakewood Blvd. at the Long Beach Exchange.
The course begins by heading east on Carson toward LBCC, staying on the bike path. At the corner of Carson and Clark, turn south/right, and proceed down to the first light at Clark and Lew Davis St. Turn west/right. There is a more broad sidewalk on the south/left side of the street. At Faculty Ave, turn south/left. There is a dirt path on the east/left side of the street.
The 1-mile mark is just before reaching the “Parking Lot M” sign that marks the entry into Vets Stadium. At the end of Faculty Ave, turn west/right onto Conant, along the north sidewalk. At Lakewood, turn north/right. There is a dirt path most of the way. When you arrive at the starting point at Carson, you’ve gone 1.87 miles.
Continue on the original loop again by heading east on Carson. The 2-mile mark is at the first tree on Carson’s median. Again, head south on Clark, but when you get to Lew Davis St., turn around and head back north on Clark, and west on Carson back toward the memorial. The 3-mile mark is just as you arrive at the only street along the stretch, called Douglas Center on the south side, or Norse Way if you’re looking at the north side of Carson. It’s another 0.1 miles to the memorial if you want to complete a 5K.
