Event Information
Last Annual Marina's Miles 5K - don't miss out! :)
Dear Runners, Walkers, and friends of Marina,
This year will be our last Marina's Miles 5K, although we will be awarding the scholarship for years to come (as long as there's money left - and we will continue to accept donations).
Covid precautions are on our website. There is a virtual option again this year, for those who are not ready to be in crowds just yet.
Thank you, and we wish you and your loved ones good health!

Course
Race begins and ends at Oyster River High School. Plenty of free parking available on site. Course goes through quiet, hilly neighborhoods in Durham NH, where Marina lived during her teen years.
Course map available at: http://marinasmiles.org/images/pdfs/MarinasMilesCourseMap.pdf
Purpose of this event
Marina's Miles is a 5K road race/walk to raise money for a college scholarship to be awarded to an Oyster River High School Student in memory of Marina Slavin, who died at the age of 20 from having too big a heart (medically, she had an enlarged heart caused by an infection). Marina was known for enthusiastically greeting friends - running & hugging as if it'd been years ... when it may have only been hours. She reached out to new classmates, discouraged teammates, new neighbors. She loved the people in her life passionately, and embraced life and all it had to offer (especially fall leaves, running in mud, rain, ice cream...). But she was really probably best known for running barefoot! :)

Covid Precaution (as of March 2022 – may be updated as the race gets closer)
We will follow all federal, state, and local laws concerning Covid precautions. If the Covid transmission rate is at or above 15% in the week before the date of the race, or if the regulations related to Covid precautions are more than we can safely handle, we will move to a virtual event with no refunds (except for item 5 below).
Check-in, registrations, awards ceremony and raffle will be outside. There will be access to indoor bathrooms.
There will be a chip start (meaning your personal time won't start until you physically cross the starting line) to make it easier to physically distance for those who wish to do so.
There will be an option to register to run virtually (whenever and wherever desired before the race date). Virtual runners may have their race time included in the results if they submit a time before the race date. They will be eligible for the door prize raffle if they (or someone they designate) is present at the drawing, but not for medals (since neither their course nor their time are official).
We will provide refunds for those who have Covid symptoms within a week of the race date to encourage people who are at risk of spreading the disease to stay home.
Registration Fee
It's $25 to register (plus a $3.45 processing fee).
