INFORMATION ABOUT THIS EVENT
Join us for an amazing time at the BE A HERO 5K and JR. Superheroes Dash (for kids 6 & under) as we support the work of the Hazelden Betty Ford Children's Program and the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center and their quest to better the lives of children throughout our valley. Come for the Run - Stay for the Fun! 5K is followed by the Jr.Superheroes Dash, wellness fair and activities for kids and much, much more! BE A HERO and join us on Saturday, February 18th, 2023.

The BE A HERO 5K is a fun filled morning offering a challenging 5K course for everyone! This event is runner, walker, stroller and doggie friendly!

The Course
This is a track and trail - out and back course in beautiful Rancho Mirage, California. Beginning at Rancho Mirage Community Park, this course takes participants along the dirt trail of the Whitewater River Wash, under Highway 111 and into Rancho Mirage's Magnesia Falls Cove before returning back to the park's finish line. It is runner, walker and doggie friendly; offering a water stop mid-race.


Goodies Galore!
Your entry fee gets you registered into the event, an event tech t-shirt, beautiful finisher medal, special superhero cape and mask, tote bag and finish line snacks! Following the race, there will be activities lasting throughout the morning.

T-shirts
Quality tech t-shirts will be given to all paid 5K event entrants. Please make your size selection during the registration process.

Packet Pick-Up
Early packet pick-up will be held Friday, February 17th from Noon - 5:00pm at Rancho Mirage Community Park - 71560 San Jacinto, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270. You will receive your race bib, t--shirt, cape and mask at that time. You MAY pick up for family and friends. Please sign the waiver at pick-up.
  • Late registration is available at packet pick-up and on race day $45, beginning at 6:30AM. Late packet pick-up and registration will be held race morning beginning at 6:30 at the race site: Rancho Mirage Community Park - 71560 San Jacinto, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270.


    • Awards
    ALL race finishers will receive a beautiful event finisher medal. Division awards will be given 3-deep in 5 year age groups from 10 and under to 90+. Overall men and women, challenged athletes, team, stroller and doggie division 1st, 2nd and 3rd trophies will be given. (Strollers must have big wheels to get through the trail portion of the course).

    Post Race Happenings
    Come for the run and stay for the fun -JR. SUPERHEROES DASH (for kids 10 & under) follows the 5K. In addition to our race fun, the morning will include many activities and displays highlighting children's services. Lots of fun for the entire family is in store at this guaranteed to be popular event! We will also have some extra surprises and raffles prizes, too! Don't miss out!

    Timing
    RaceWire, powered by Stack Sports will chip time this event providing accurate timing and instant results! Results will be posted on site and will be available on your personal devices, too.

    Parking
    Ample parking is available nearby at The River and on the streets surrounding the park. Handicapped parking will be available at the race site at Rancho Mirage Community Park.

I hereby acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in this event and expressly agree to assume any such risks. (IF PARTICIPANT IS A MINOR, PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MUST READ THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH AND SIGN BELOW ON BEHALF OF MINOR, AS WELL). I am the participant and or parent and/or legal guardian of a child participant, a minor. I fully understand that participation in the BE A HERO 5K - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023 exposes participants to the risk of personal injury, death or personal damage. I hereby acknowledge that myself or my child (hereinafter referred to as “Participant”) is voluntarily participating in this program with my express permission. As a participant and/or parent and/or legal guardian of the Participant, I expressly agree In consideration for being permitted to participate in BE A HERO 5K - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023, I hereby release and forever discharge the Coachella Valley Water District, City of Rancho Mirage, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, Barbara Sinatra Children's Center and P.S. Marathon Runners, its officers, employees, agents and volunteers for any injury, death or damage to or loss of personal property arising out of or in connection with participant’s participation in the BE A HERO 5K - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023, from whatever cause, including the active or passive negligence of the Coachella Valley Water District, City of Rancho Mirage, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, Barbara Sinatra Children's Center and P.S. Marathon Runners, or its participants in the BE A HERO 5K - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023. In further consideration for being allowed to participate in the BE A HERO 5K - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023, I hereby agree, for myself, my heirs, administrators, executors and assigns, that I will indemnify and hold harmless the, Coachella Valley Water District, City of Rancho Mirage, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, Barbara Sinatra Children's Center and P.S. Marathon Runners, its officers, employees, agents and volunteers from any and all claims, including claims for Worker’s Compensation benefits, damages, demands, actions or suits arising out of or in connection with my participation in the BE A HERO 5K - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023 brought by any third party. In addition, I grant to BE A HERO 5K - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023, its representatives and employees the right to take photographs of me and my property in connection with the above-identified subject. I authorize BE A HERO 5K - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023, its assigns and transferees to copyright, use and publish the same in print and/or electronically. I agree that BE A HERO 5K - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023 may use such photographs of me with or without my name and for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content. I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENTS.
