Event Information
Who does the race benefit and who does it honor?
Our race benefits the young girls of Cambridge. The Cambridge Girls Softball League and other girls' sports teams are the primary recipients of the funds from the race. These great organizations work on team building, athletic skills, and strengthen the connection among physical, mental and social well-being of girls. We've raised over $100,000 for girls' sports in Cambridge!
This year's race is dedicated to "The Deacon", Paul Courtney.
To describe Paul Courtney in a few sentences is an impossible task. Paul was our weekend bartender for over 50 years. He was part of our family, for all our lives. Paul loved people, and would make them laugh the moment they met him. He was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a man of faith.
Paul was a natural leader in the community and on the softball field. Paul was the Chief Court Officer for the Suffolk Juvenile Courts. He was stern, fair, and very invested in helping many young people make positive changes. Paul was also a force to be reckoned with on the softball field! He was such a guiding light to many young athletes.
He is and will be sorely missed. “Let’s wrap it up Pally”.
Paddy’s was his church and Paul was “The Deacon” of it!
Post-Race Block Party
After the race there will a block party outside Paddy's until 7PM! Walden Street will be closed off to traffic and there will be a large beer garden, food trucks, and DJ.
