11th Anniversary
Welcome to our 11th year. To celebrate this year we are having the race Halloween weekend and will be holding a costume contest as part of the race.
About The Race
The FBE Apple 5K and 2K races are events that are a celebration of education in Belmont. The race passes by two of Belmont's schools (Winbrook and the High School) and recognizes Belmont's commitment to educating its young. The proceeds from the race will fund the Education Innovation Fund for the Foundation for Belmont Education, a 501c3 non-profit organization that works with residents and businesses in Belmont, Massachusetts to raise private funds that are used to enrich the education provided by the Belmont Public Schools.

A virtual option is also available for those that wish to participate remotely. There will be no awards given out for the virtual option.
Race Day Schedule
Race Day: Sunday, October 29th, 2023

8:00 AM - 9:15 AM: 5K and 2k bib pickup & race day registration
9:30 AM: The Apple 5K
10:15 AM: 5K Awards Ceremony
10:45 AM: The Apple 2k
11:15 AM: 2k mile Awards Ceremony
Number Pick-Up
Race bibs will be available for pickup at The Belmont High School Track beginning at 8am on race day.

Pre-race bib pickup this year will be determined in coming weeks.
The Course
The Apple 5K covers a scenic, 5 kilometer route through this historic Boston suburb starting and ending at the Belmont High School track on Concord Avenue.

The 2k is a timed race suitable for runners of all ages and abilities. It follows a flat, loop course starting on the Belmont track and going over by Clay Pit Pond ending back at the track.
Awards & Post-Race Events
An awards ceremony will follow the running of both the 5K and the 2k race. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers of the 5K and 2k races.

Race T-Shirts
T-Shirts will be available for both the 5K and 2k races.

Adult and Youth sizes are offered. Details are as follows:

5K / 2k - A hi-tec short sleeve 'quik-dri' running shirt will be offered to the first 400 registered runners.
Directions & Parking
The Belmont High School Track is located on Concord Avenue, adjacent to Belmont High School.

The Track can be easily reached by car and public transportation and there is ample parking available for runners on the surrounding streets (please obey parking signs).
About the Foundation
The Foundation for Belmont Education engages the community in supporting the excellence and enrichment of the Belmont Public School System. Through the generous support of private donors, the FBE ensures that all Belmont schools have the resources to inspire and prepare students for success.

Since 1993, the FBE has awarded more than $2.8 million in grants to finance over 614 projects initiated and organized by principals, teachers, and staff. Resources are distributed through Learning Excellence Grants, which provide up to $1,000 for small projects and up to $5,000 for those benefiting a wider group of students. The Special Initiatives program funds large-scale projects that enhance the educational experience for the entire student body. The Foundation is also committed to supporting teachers and staff through ongoing Professional Development programs.

I understand all race fees are non-transferable and non-refundable, even in the event of a race cancellation. I know that participating in The FBE Apple Run 5K and 2k race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run, however, I also acknowledge that race officials are not responsible to know my medical condition or my ability to participate in and complete this event. I assume all risks associated with participating in The FBE Apple Run 5K and 2k race activities including, but not limited to falls; contact with other participants, volunteers and spectators; the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity; traffic and the conditions of the road;, and holes and obstructions along the route, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my application, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act in my behalf, waive release and hold harmless any and all race directors, officials, volunteers and sponsors, including but not limited to The Foundation for Belmont Education, Racewire Inc., The Town of Belmont, State of Massachusetts, and their representatives and successors from all claims of liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose. IF ATHLETE IS UNDER AGE 18: Guardian Consent: This is to certify that my son/daughter has my permission to compete in The FBE Apple Run 5K and 2k race is in good physical condition and that race officials have my permission to authorize emergency treatment if necessary.
