About This Event
This event is one of many events that represents the Jak-L Foundation which is a non-profit organization founded in memory of Julie Lulu. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, niece and friend. We lost Julie to suicide in 2017 after a long battle with her own mental health struggles. Julie was a fierce, loving and goofy person and that got lost in the midst of her battle at times. Please join us and consider donating to our organization to help us with our mission of bringing awareness to suicide, and to support our work in partnering with local organizations to fund programs that fight suicide.
Course Details
This is our first annual 5k! Join us for a fun, flat course around the town of Oxford.
We strongly believe that mental health and physical health are both important components of overall health.

Refund/Cancellation Policy
Due to the nature of event management there are no refunds, no exceptions. We reserve the right to cancel, or shorten the race due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions. Every attempt will be made to hold the race but JAK-L Foundation in collaboration with the Town of Oxford, Oxford Police and Fire Department will make the final decision about whether the race course is safe for runners, monitors, and vehicular traffic.

WAIVER:
Please enter me in the 1st Annual Hope Starts Here 5k Run/Walk Road Race. I agree to assume all responsibility for all risk of damage or injury to me as a participant in this event. In consideration of being accepted as an entrant in the Hope Starts Here 5k, I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, release and discharge the JAK-L Foundation and any and all other individuals, entities, and organizations associated with the race from all claims, damages, rights of action, present or future, whether the same be known, anticipated, or unanticipated, resulting from or arising out of, or incident to, my participation in this event. I hereby certify that I will not participate in Hope Starts Here 5k unless I am physically fit and sufficiently trained for competition in the race. I also grant permission for the use of my name and or picture in any broadcast, photograph or other account of this race. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, or blades, and animals are not allowed in the race and I abide by this guideline. Due to the nature of event management, there are no refunds, no exceptions. The event organizer has the right to shorten or even cancel the event if, in his or her judgment, environmental conditions including weather become dangerous; in this situation no refunds will be given.
