Event Information
About This Event
Our second annual Run for Runway is a 5K Fun Run/Walk benefitting Runway for Recovery, a 501(c)3 organization that provides a continuum of support to families impacted by breast cancer.
This is a family-friendly and serves as an opportunity to lift up local families that are living with a stage IV, metastatic breast cancer diagnosis or who have had a parent/guardian pass away from the disease.
The funds raised at this event will benefit the Runway for Recovery Family Grants program, specifically the Linda K. Cohen Tuition Fund and other educational supports for families. The financial burden of a cancer diagnosis or loss of a parent can upend a child’s educational trajectory, whether because of financial limitations, a move to a new district, or other unforeseen circumstances. The Linda K. Cohen Fund was established to help children in a "make-or-break" educational situation to help those in need of an alternative educational environment.
Runway swag will be awarded to the top three finishers.
Parking Information
The Run for Runway will start and finish at the Dana Hall School. There is parking available at the school. Please allow yourself enough time to arrive at the event, find parking, and get checked in before the start of the race.
About Runway for Recovery
Runway for Recovery was founded in 2007 by Olivia Achtmeyer Boger, six years after her mother passed away from breast cancer. What was originally intended to be a one-time fundraiser has now grown into a full-time, 501(c)3 organization. Our mission is rooted in the understanding that no one experiences breast cancer alone, and that there are ways to ease the burden of this disease on parents, children, caregivers, and loved ones.
For seventeen years, Runway for Recovery has provided patients and families with a continuum of support along their journey with breast cancer. Runway creates community by hosting events and providing services that create joy and inspire hope. With shared understanding they celebrate survivors, honor legacies and fund families who have experienced loss.
