About this Event:
Please join us at our 4th Annual 'Don’t Lose Hope: 5k Run/Walk for Suicide Awareness'!
More than 50,000 Americans died by suicide in 2023 — more than ANY year on record. This is a crisis.
In a 2023 global well-being survey, more than half of respondents to a felt that society is judgmental towards people with lower mental well-being, while 43% did not think it is acceptable to talk about mental health issues. Almost half of the men surveyed felt that it is harder for men to talk about their mental health. 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year. We all at least have either heard of someone who has died by suicide or personally have experienced a loss of a loved one.
We need more conversations, we need more check-ins with our people, but most of all we need to be kind.
Help us break the stigma attached to mental health by showing your support on Sunday, October 13th!
Run with a p u r p o s e.
Run for a loved one who you've lost to suicide, run for a friend you know is struggling, or run for your own personal mental health battle.
Whatever your reason, you're making a d i f f e r e n c e.
Whether you run, jog, or walk; your presence is what is appreciated most!
Registration will begin at 7:30 am and the official race start time will be 8:30 am. Upon your arrival on race day, please be sure to check in as well as get your honor beads (see below for honor beads description).

T-shirt Ticket Deadline:
Please note the deadline to receive a T-shirt is Friday, OCTOBER 4th. If you register after this date, you will not receive a t-shirt. Please register before this date to ensure you get one!
What are Honor Beads?
They are beneficial in both honoring a loved one as well as silently identifying a loss that you have had. Each color shows our personal connection to the cause and helps us identify others who understand our experience.

About Child & Family Mobile Crisis Intervention Services:
Our Adult + Youth Mobile Crisis Intervention (A/YMCI) provides behavioral health crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization services (24/7/365) to individuals of all ages with mental health, substance use disorder, and/or co-occurring conditions. Services can be provided at our office location or in the community such as home, school, shelters, or other preferred locations.

I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I attest that I have read the rules of the race and agree to abide by them. I assume all risks associated with running in this event, including but no limited to: falls, physical contact with other participants, volunteers, race personnel, contract service providers, employees, and spectators including the potential the contraction of a communicable disease resulting from contact with other participants, volunteers, race personnel, contract service providers, employees, and spectators. I assume all risks including: the effects of the weather; high heat and/or humidity; freezing cold temperatures; traffic and the conditions of the road including surrounding terrain. I assume all such risks being known, appreciated, and accepted by me. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers/strollers, roller skates or inline skates are not allowed in the race, and I will abide by all race rules. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release Child & Family Services, Inc., the city of New Bedford, and the Road Runners Club of America, all event sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purposes. I understand that this event does not provide for refunds in the event of a cancellation, and by signing this waiver, I consent that I am not entitled to a refund if the event is cancelled before or during the event.
