Online registration closes at 8:00 pm EST on Thursday 5/21/13. You may still register for the race in-person at packet pickup on Friday 5/24 at the Maine Running Company Store OR on race day at the Pineland Farms venue.
No refunds will be offered unless you purchased a Refund Option at the time of registration.

You may purchase separately a high quality wicking race hat made by SweatVac for $15. Hats are only guaranteed if ordered by 5/1/13. After this date (and on race day) hats will be for sale while supplies last.
The entry fee for all events on Saturday 5/25/13 does not include the cost of a BBQ meal ticket. However, Portland Pie Company will be serving all participants free pizza. You may purchase one or more online for $5 apiece. The entry fee for all events on Sunday 5/26/13 does include the BBQ meal. All proceeds for meal tickets will go to the Gray New Gloucester Booster Club. You may also purchase extra tickets on race day.
Each race course is an off-road roller coaster on well-maintained XC trails that twist, turn and roll their way through forests and across pastoral, working farmland. The trails are wide and non-technical with no roots or rocks, but very hilly. Although there are no major climbs the rolling terrain is unrelenting. There is something challenging for everyone from 5km to 50 miles, running barefoot to being pulled by a dog.
Post Race Festival
In the spirit of Memorial Day, there will be a post-race BBQ with food, pizza, beer and music. Friends and family can also have fun during the 3-legged and wheel barrow races, and other contests on Saturday 5/25/13. Showers will be available on Sunday. See web site for a complete list of events. Bring your own chair or blanket, or relax at one of our picnic tables to relive tales of the trail.
Awards and Prizes
Hand-crafted awards will be given to the top-three (3) overall male and female finishers, and the top (1) male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 1-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. A team prize will be awarded to the first place team in each of the following races: 5k, 10k, 25k, 50, and 50mile. A team consists of 4 runners (male or female) entered under the same team name. All 25k, 50k and 50 miler finishers will receive a one-of-a-kind cow bell -- each bell is different size. All 50 mile finishers will also receive one-of-a-kind glass mug that reads "50 Mile Finisher" and includes the logos for the race and Shipyard Brewing Company; and, they will receive a cool mystery prize. All finishers in all races will receive a commemorative aluminum water bottle pre-filled with cold water at the finish line.
You can save $5 if you register online for more than one race. For example, you can register for the 5k race on Saturday and the 50k race on Sunday. The online system will ask for your contact information once. At first you will be asked to select one race category. Then before you checkout you will have the opportunity to select another race category at a discounted price. Please keep in mind that shirts for each race are sold separately.
The race entry fee does not include a race shirt, each must be purchased separately. That’s because some people already have enough shirts in their closets and we think people should have the freedom to choose. We also take a great deal of pride in the quality and design of our shirts. Our 2013 short sleeve technical race shirts are white and made by Merrell. We offer both men’s and women’s sizes. There are 4 different designs associated with different races: 1) 5k & 10k races, 2) 5k Canicross, 3) Barefoot 5k, and 4) 25k, 50k, and 50mile races. If you order a shirt you will receive one with the design associated with your race. If you register for more than one race please be sure to order two shirts. You must order your shirts by 5/4/13 to be guaranteed a specific size. At registration you will be given the size that you ordered. Substitutes will only be allowed after the race if there are extra shirts available. You will forfeit your shirt if you do not claim it before the race starts. You may request a refund if you did not claim your shirt or if we don't have the size that you originally ordered.
Early registration fees apply through April 27th, 2013 at 11:00 pm EST. Starting on Saturday April 28th, 2012, fees will go up $5 for all events held on Saturday 5/25/13 and $10 for all events held on Sunday 5/26/13.
We realize that life happens and sometimes it’s not possible or advisable for runners to participate in a race. Sometimes runners suffer injuries while training, learn that they’re pregnant, get called to perform military duty, lose a job, or must attend to a family emergency. Sometimes races get cancelled due to Acts Of God – i.e. hurricane Irene 8/28/11 or hurricane Sandy 10/29/12. In the past we didn’t offer refunds but we did allow runners to transfer their fees to another race under certain circumstances. Starting in 2013 runners can pay an extra fee when they register online to receive a Refund Option.
A disposable timing chip will be attached to the back of each person's race bib. Please do not remove or fold the timing chip. The timing company will send out text messages as well as emails a few hours after the race with runner’s times. When you register please be sure to include your cell phone number, carrier name, and email address.

Camping at Bradbury Mtn State Park (Friday & Sunday ONLY)
Tent camping is available in a group setting at Bradbury Mountain State Park, 3.5 miles from the race venue. The group site is limited to 60 tents on a first-come-first serve basis per night. Reservations are required. Camping is currently available on Friday 5/24/13 and Sunday 5/26/13. The cost will be $5 per person per night. Alternatively you may also rent an individual camp site by contacting the park directly.

Refund Option Benefits
If you purchase the Refund Option you may request a refund of your base entry fee and any other merchandise purchases. Online processing fees and the Refund Option cost are not included. For example, if you registered for the 50k on 12/31/13 and purchased a shirt and a glass mug your total cost would be $55(base) + $10(option cost) + $10(shirt) + $5(mug) +$4.50(online fee) = $84.50. If you request a refund you will receive $70 ($55 base +$10 shirt +$5 mug).
Refund Option Rules
You must purchase the Refund Option at the time of registration. Refund Options cannot be purchased after you’ve completed the online registration process. You must exercise the Refund Option no later than Friday 5/24/13 at 7:00 PM (EST). Requests for a refund must be done in writing by sending an email to email@example.com. Processing may take up two weeks. Refunds will be credited to the credit card that you used at the time of registration. No cash or checks will be sent. Refunds will be processed by Racewire, our online registration provider. If the race is cancelled you may request a refund. If you defer your race entry to the 2014 event you will also retain the Refund Option.
If you cannot attend the race for any reason you may request a deferral of your base entry fee and merchandise purchases (not including online processing fees) to the next year. You must send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org by 6:00 PM (EST) on Friday 5/24/13 to request a deferral. Your name will be removed from the public participants list when the deferral is processed. Later, after registration for the 2014 event has been opened, you will receive an email with a unique promotional code. You will then need to register online for the 2014 event and submit the promotional code. A $10 administrative fee will be applied through a reduction in the value of the promotional code.
Although rare sometimes races must be cancelled due to unexpected unsafe race conditions – i.e. Hurricane Irene 8/28/11 and Sandy 10/30/12. If there is an event due to an Act Of God — i.e. hurricane, dangerously high heat index >105, or a state of emergency is declared by municipal authorities – the race will be cancelled. If the race is cancelled due to an Act Of God it will not be postponed and no refunds will be given.
