Short Sleeve Performance Race Shirts
To align with our conservation ethic and reduce waste, our race entry fee does not include an event shirt. We are pleased to offer short sleeve, moisture-wicking, performance fabric shirts made from 100% recycled polyester. The shirts perform like typical moisture-wicking polyester shirts, but use 70% less energy to produce. Each shirt is produced by using 8-12 raw post-consumer plastic bottles.
The shirts are made by a Brunswick-based company, Atayne, that is committed to making products that are safe for both human health and the environment. These shirts are produced, from fiber to finish, in the US and are reviewed by a third party to guarantee environmental and human health standards.
Atayne’s “Trash Runner” team will run behind racers to pick up trash with the goal of making the course cleaner than when we started. Additionally, Atayne will train volunteers to manage our recyclables and traditional waste at the start and finish lines.
Shirts may be purchased for $15 when pre-registering. Sizes are guaranteed with orders placed by February 15; we will do our best to accommodate your ordered size after February 15, but cannot guarantee its availability.
Runners who purchased a shirt when they registered must pick them up at one of the packet pick-ups and before 8:45 a.m. at Deering High School on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Those who purchase a shirt and do not claim it may request a refund.
Shirts will be available for purchase for $20 after the race starts. Quantities and sizes may be limited.
Green Neighbor Family Fest
The Urban Runoff 5k will lead into a post-race, family festival. Post-race massage will be provided. Food will be available for registered athletes and volunteers.
The Green Neighbor Family Fest will provide families and community members with hands-on activities about water, steps to becoming a green neighbor, and an all-around good time! Contact Jami Fitch, jami@cumberlandswcd.org, for more information.
Volunteers
We are seeking volunteers to assist with race support, waste and recycling and festival activities. Contact sarah-plummer@cumberlandswcd.org for more information.
Refund Policy
No refunds will be issued for this race. If you are unable to race, you may transfer your entry to next year's event.
Online Registration Closure
Online registration for this event will automatically close on 4/16/2013 at 8:00PM EST. You may also register in-person at one of the packet pickups before the race.
Stollers and Dog Policy
The portion of the course on the trails is not stroller-friendly. While running with a stroller is discouraged they are allowed. Runners with strollers must start at the very end of the start corral.
Dogs are not permitted on the course.
Start Corral
A start corral process will be used in 2013 to facilitate a more efficient and convenient race day experience for all participants. This process is necessary because a large field of runners is anticipated and due to the presence of bottlenecks on the trail portion of the course. During the registration process runners will be asked to submit their expected pace for a 5k race. On race day runners will seed themselves inside the corral based on their expected 5k pace. Runners will not be held to the expected pace from registration; they may choose to seed themselves anywhere in the corral. In general the fastest runners will be seeded first in the corral and the slowest runners/walkers will be seeded toward the back.
Chip Timing
A reusable timing chip will be given to each participant that attaches around the ankle with a velcro strap. The timing company will send you a text message and email after the race with your race results. When you register please be sure to include your cell phone number, carrier name, and email address.
Bib Transfers and Substitutes
Another person cannot run with your bib under your name. However, you may request a refund if the other person completes the registration process on their own and you reimburse them for the fees.
