Supporting the Cause
This event is sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police. All will be donated to the family of Carter Nuckols. Carter is the 4 year old son of Russellville Police Officer Michael Nuckols and was recently diagnosed with an inoperable malignant brain tumor. Carter is currently undergoing treatment through UAMS and the Arkansas Childrens Hospital. The family is still searching nationwide for alternate treatment options for Carter. Donated funds will help relieve the burden of medical bills and travel expenses for the Nuckols family.
About This Event
Carter loves superheroes, especially Batman! We encourage you to dress up as your favorite superhero for the race. The Superhero Race will consist of three sub-events: Superhero 5K Walk/Run, Superhero 5K Walk Only, and Little Superhero Fun Run (1K). The entry fee for each adult event will be $20 if registered by midnight on May 31, 2013 and $25 after. The child (ages 12 and under) entry fee will be $10 if registered by midnight on May 31, 2013 and $15 after. Your entry fee will include a number bib (adults only), Superhero Race t-shirt, and the satisfaction of supporting a great cause! It is recommended that bystanders bring a lawn chair; there will be no seating provided.
An awards ceremony will be conducted after the conclusion of all races.
*You must register by midnight on May 31, 2013 to be guarenteed a race t-shirt.
Parking and Course
Participants of all sub-events will meet at the Russellville Junior High (RJHS), 2000 West Parkway Drive, Russellville, AR 72801. Participant parking will be permitted in the large lot at the rear of RJHS only. Please do not park at the front of the school; this area is reserved for emergency service personnel only. Volunteers may park on the sides of the school in designated parking spots only.
The Little Superhero Fun Run will take place at the RJHS track on the west side of the school. The course will be 1K in length. The track is dirt-type material.
The Superhero 5K Walk/Run and the Superhero 5K Walk Only will start on the west side of RJHS, near the rear parking lot. Signs will be posted at the precise START location. The course will continue toward West Parkway Drive. When the participants reach West Parkway, they will take a left and continue on West Parkway until they reach North Phoenix Avenue. Participants will then take a left onto North Phoenix Avenue and continue north until they reach the turn around point. Once the participants turn around, they will continue south until they reach West Parkway Drive, at which time they will take a right and continue west. The FINISH line will be near the large RJHS sign.
Event coordinators and volunteers will be present at the start and finish lines, along with the turning points. There will be at least one water point along the route. The road surface is asphalt.
Medical personnel will be on standby.
