A word from our Race Director
Hi, my name is Andre and I am 10 years old and in the 4th grade at the Amesbury Elementary School. My whole life I have been running and helping at road races with my mom and dad. I am wicked excited to bring the Rock CAN Run Hard and Loud Mile race to Amesbury for its 2nd year! It's going to be HARD because the course goes up Powow Hill (past my house) and you will be carrying 5 cans of food to be donated to Our Neighbors Table. All the money that gets raised will go to Our Neighbors Table, a wonderful food pantry here in Amesbury that helps people get food when they don't have the money to buy it themselves. If you don't want to run or walk with the cans, that's ok. But please bring 5 cans anyway and we will have a place for you to drop them before you begin. This is going to be awesome and I hope you will join me!
Ice Cream and other sponsors
I love ice cream. It's going to be a hot summer day and ice cream would be awesome to give out to all the participants after they finish. If you would like to donate the ice cream, we would love to make you a sponsor. If anyone else would like to donate money or other stuff to help Our Neighbors Table, we would be wicked happy and make you a sponsor. Please email me. I'm Andre.
We will have a band playing. Sal's Your Dad is the name of them and they play awesome rock music. They are from Amesbury and we are greatful that they dontate their time to play music for this race.
Our Neighbors Table and the food drive
Our Neighbors Table is a place that helps feed families who need our help. This race is also a food drive for Our Neighbors Table. Please remember to bring 5 cans of food. You can bring more if you would like. You can run with the food too but should bring a backpack if you do. It's fun and my dad and I have done it with other friends before. If you would like to know the food and other stuff that Our Neighbors Table needs most, please go to http://www.ourneighborstable.org/ and look at their Wishlist.
We have awesome prizes. We have sneakers to give away from New Balance as well as some great gift certificates from tasty local restaurants. Many of these prizes will be given away to people to guess the times of our VIP runners.
Hi, I'm going to need some help. If you help, that would be awesome. I'll try to get you some ice cream too just for helping. You might have to run or walk up the hill to get it though. Email me if you want to. I'm Andre.
Start, Finish and Parking
The start of the race is going to be at the beautiful new Nicolas Costello Transportation Center. The course is going to go up to the very top of Powow Hill (we live here and call it Po’ Hill). The finish will be at Batchelder Park. It’s a neat park at the very top of Po’ Hill that has views all the way to the ocean! Afterwards, you must walk down to your car or maybe visit downtown Amesbury. It’s ok, this mile is downhill and will be easy.
Please do not park at the transportation center. You can park off of Water Street in the Lower Millyard and walk the path to the transportation center. Downtown Amesbury also has parking.
First 300 registrations gets a shirt!
We are proud to have Align Credit Union as our big sponsor who is buying the first 300 shirts to the first 300 registrations. They are an awesome company that has local branches. They have an office in Amesbury and you can see what they do here: http://www.aligncu.com/. We'll also be having a pre-registration pick-up at their Amesbury location!
