About This Event
All the money we raise from the Katie McBurnett 5K will be used to purchase Cough Buddy animals for Riley Hospital for Children, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent, Columbus Regional Hospital and Kings Daughters Hospital. Katie received a Cough Buddy while she was at Riley, but they no longer distrubute them; because of this, we want to get the bears back into the arms of kids who need them.
From the Cough Buddy website: “‘Cough Buddy™’ is a specially designed post-operative pillow with a firm, yet flexible back to serve as a splint for the patient’s incision. Our pillow was created to help patients cough and deep breathe after open heart, thoracic, abdominal, or bariatric surgery. After surgical procedures, recovering patients must perform both of these procedures to avoid respiratory complications, such as pneumonia. Cough Buddy™ provides the support a patient needs and minimizes the pain of therapy. “Cough Buddy™” has proven to be a great comfort if a patient suffers from post-operative depression. He becomes a very special gift and a wonderful tool to help them through their surgery.”
Proceeds will also help fund the first Katie McBurnett Memorial Scholarship, to be awarded in the spring of 2016.

Parking will be available in the 100 block of Broadway Street, but will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional parking is available throughout downtown Madison, within walking distance to the starting point.
From Indianapolis
Take I-65 southbound to Exit 34A, IN 256. Take 256 until you get to downtown Madison. 256 will turn into Main Street. Turn left onto Broadway Street. Registration will be straight ahead.
From Louisville
Take I-65 northbound to Exit 29A, IN 56. Follow 56 until you get to downtown Madison. 56 will merge with 256 and become Main Street. Turn left onto Broadway Street. Registration will be straight ahead.
From Cincinnati
Take I-71 south to Highway 227, Exit 44 in Carrolton, Ky. Take Highway 227 north to Highway 36. Take Highway 36 west to the intersection of Highway 421. Take Highway 421 north across the Madison-Milton Bridge to Indiana. Continue north on Highway 421 until it joins Highway 56. Turn left on 56. 56 will turn into Main Street in downtown Madison. Follow Main Street through downtown, turning left onto Broadway Street. Registration will be straight ahead.
