About the Battle Road 5K
The Inaugural Battle Road 5K Run/Walk is truly a unique running experience. The race will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 beginning at 9:00am at the Visitor's Center on the Minute Man National Historic Park’s Battle Road Trail.
Purpose of the Race
Proceeds for the race will go the Massachusetts National Guard Foundation, a 501 c 3 nonprofit. The Foundation assist members of the National Guard who are deployed, provides professional development opportunities and provides scholarships.
The Course
The trail connects the historic sites from Concord to Lexington that launched the American Revolution on April 19, 1775. The Road Race starts at the Minute Man Park Visitors Center (3151 Marrett Road, Lexington). The race is a loop along the trail in Lexington and Lincoln. Pretty, natural, relatively flat, the trail turns through historic farming fields, past the Paul Revere capture site, Revolutionary-era homes and roads that once saw the early battles in the fight for this country.
Post Race Party
A post race event starting at 10:00 featuring a free buffet will be held as Waxy O'Connor's Irish Bar, 94 Hartwell Ave, Lexington. Race participants also receive a free beer ticket. Awards will be given at the Post Race Party. Radio Station MIX 104 will be at the party providing music and giving out prizes.
Prizes
Awards will be given to the men and women First, Second, and Third Places finishes. The public is invited to participate. Members of the Massachusetts National Guard are encouraged to form five person teams consisting of runners from their unit. The best placed National Guard unit will received the Adjutant General's Cup to be presented by the Adjutant General of the Massachusetts National Guard. Civilian teams are also encourage. The best civilian team will also receive an award. The three winners of each gender in the following categories will receive awards:

Bib/Number Pick Up
Bib/Number pick up will occur at Waxy O'Connor's Irish Pub, 94 Hartwell Ave, Lexington at the following times:

Friday, May 20th from 4:00PM-7:00PM
Saturday, May 21st from 2:00PM-5:00PM

At the Minute Man Visitors Center, Sunday, May 22rd from 8:00AM-9:00AM. Only checks or cash will be accepted on Sunday, May 22.

Participants are strongly encouraged to pre-register online. First 200 to register receive FREE t-shirts.
Parking
Limited parking is available at the Visitors Center. Additional parking will be available at Minute Man Technical High School. All cars must exit the Minute Man High School parking lot by 1:00 pm.
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony will feature the Jubilation Singers, a select choir from the McCall Middle School in Winchester. Also radio station MIX 104 will be providing music and giving out prizes.

Race management reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event due to events out of management's control such as weather, natural disasters or other emergencies. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. Management may also alter the course and distances for the safety of the athletes.
