About This Event
The Cape Cod Run For Recovery Relay Race is to help raise awareness about the Opioid Epidemic on Cape Cod & to unite the Cape Cod Communities on supporting Recovery! The race takes place over 2 days where teams of runners carry purple flags from Bourne to P-town!!! This will be an opportunity for runners to help gain sponsors and raise funds to help fund treatment for those in need & to support a life of recovery.

The Open Doorway of Cape Cod, Inc. are the NEW offical leaders of the Relay Race, as Chris Santos has become too busy and stepped down. He offered us to be the leaders, and we said YES! Last year we were the sponsor for the Relay Race but now we are the leaders! We are working with towns to get all of our permits and papers filed, meeting with town officals, and getting the relay race route approved. We are holding Team Captain meetings and will announce runner sign ups once we have offical permission.

The Open Doorway's Board of Directors decided to rename the race from "Cape Cod Run From Addiction" to "Cape Cod Run For Recovery!" We feel this is better suited and targets a larger audience. We have also redesigned the logo for the race and for the flags, which was another decision by the Board. It will no longer read "Stop the Madness." We hope you like it and we look forward to seeing you join the race!

We do ask that all runners in the Relay Race either wear one of the t-shirts we will be selling, or wear a purple shirt so that it is easy to keep track of runners on the teams. You do NOT have to run the entire length of the town - you can run as much or as little as you like - your Team Captain will get this information from you and work it out among the team runners. If someone wants to participate but cannot run - they may walk a segment, carrying the team flag. Children ARE allowed to run in the relay race WITH their parent and their parents consent. The waiver attached to registration MUST be signed by guardian(s).

*TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE, BUT WILL BE KEPT TO AS CLOSELY AS POSSIBLE.

*Your CC info may be required to register but there is NO registration cost to runners.

*More Details To Be Announced. Dates and events have all been approved by each town and the Police Departments. The Cape Cod Run For Recovery will take place September 24th & 25th, 2016.

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for the Cape Cod Run For Recovery, please contact us at theopendoorcapecod@gmail.com or 844 - THE-ODCC. We will be happy to discuss it with you and add your business logo to our banners, t-shirts, and event literature. We MUST have your info by September 13th.

*email us if interested in volunteering to hand out water, man a table at our celebration parties, help plan the race, or are interested in becoming a Team Captain: theopendoorcapecod@gmail.com
