Event Information
Run from Resistance 5k
The Northeastern University School of Pharmacy 5K: Run from Resistance is a race to raise awareness about the dangers of antibiotic resistance and the steps we can all take to help this issue.

Antibiotics are medications used to treat infectious diseases. However, the high frequency and long history of using antibiotics has allowed bacteria to adapt to the drugs, making the drugs less effective and the bacteria resistant over time. Each year in the United States, 2 million people are infected with bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics. At least 23,000 people die each year as a direct result of these resistant infections. This is a preventable problem that needs to be addressed through community and professional education. Come out to support an antibiotic resistance charity and learn more about this issue!

This year, the Run from Resistance will also feature a Field Day near the finish line of the 5k. This field day will include educational booths by our fellow pharmacy organizations, activity booths, and games to win giveaways! Participants are welcome to run, walk, or just enjoy the Field Day and cheer on the racers.

For volunteering opportunities, please contact Kendall Donohoe at donohoe.k@husky.neu.edu.
