Race Overview
The 2nd Annual Boston Bulldogs Run for Recovery 5K at Franklin Park will be held on Sunday, May 7th. A tribute to those who are battling addiction, the family and friends who love them and the community that supports them, the race was established to look back and honor those that we've lost, and to move forward in support of wellness and recovery.
Club History
The Bulldogs have a history dating back to 2008 when the Club was established by Clinician and “Coach” Mike Ferullo, as the HopeFound Bulldogs at the Shattuck Hospital shelter and stabilization program. The Club was adopted by Pine Street Inn in 2012 to provide members with the opportunity to participate in a positive social and wellness program supporting their recovery. In October 2015, the Boston Bulldogs Running Club was established as an independent coed non-profit 501(c)3 running club (through the Road Runners Club of America).

Coach Mike’s vision for the Club is to reach out to all those adversely affected by addiction – those in recovery, their friends and family, the various clinical communities, and to the community at large, especially the running community -- to promote the importance of wellness in recovery. The Club offers support by building a sense of community, anonymity and encouragement to facilitate discovery of the physical, emotional and social benefits of wellness and “community”.
Mission and Values
The Boston Bulldogs Running Club promotes wellness and recovery in a safe, anonymous and supportive running and wellness community for all those adversely affected by addiction - those in recovery, their families and their friends, as well as the clinical community and the community-at-large.The Club promotes an integrated approach to wellness to encourage physical, social and emotional growth with weekly walks and runs, team races, wellness coaches, sponsors and seminars, and closed recovery meetings.
Club Programs
The Club welcomes and encourages runners and walkers of all levels. Wellness sponsors are available to help members to set and meet wellness goals as well as individual and small group coaching to Club members – to encourage Bulldog members at their individual current levels, to help them set and achieve their goals.

The Club offers periodic wellness and recovery seminars and reaches out to the clinical and recovery communities to raise awareness about the impact of addiction and the Boston Bulldogs -- and to engage with and encourage those in early recovery to participate in their wellness through the Club.
Course Location and Description
The Franklin Park Playstead (Pierpont Rd, Boston, MA 02119)

The Boston Bulldogs Run for Recovery 5K will follow Franklin Park's premiere 5K cross-country course. The race incorporates three, approximately 1-mile loops through Franklin Park's picturesque fields and open trails.

The first loop kicks off on the Franklin Park Playstead cross-country style, with the course cutting across the field towards Pier Point Road. After following Pier Point Road, participants merge onto Playstead Road, loop around George White Schoolboy Stadium, and re-enter Franklin Park's Playstead field. The second loop begins the same as the first, although with a detour up and over historic Bear Cage Hill. After returning to the Playstead from Playstead Road, the third lap goes across the field and into the winding and scenic trails of Franklin Park's Wilderness.
