Proceeds to Benefit the Conquering Addiction Fitness Fund
CCI established The Fitness Fund in 2016 as a tool to aid participants in their addiction recovery program. Exercise and physical fitness can be an integral part of the recovery process. Exercise is proven to help to increase natural endorphin and dopamine levels which drug addiction depletes. It also offers a routine, a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence. For individuals new to the gym setting, this program offers an entirely new environment and community to become involved in. These components can be essential in the recovery process. Working closely with the Upper Valley Aquatic Center, the Fitness Fund provides twelve weeks of personalized training and a yearlong gym membership for participants involved in a licensed treatment program.
The first session began in February 2017 with 9 participants, 7 of whom successfully completed the 12 week training. The second session begins in September, 2017.
