(1. ) YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THAT PARTICIPATION IN THIS EVENT SHALL BE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND THAT NEITHER GOODNESS GRACIOUS, LLC; THE RACE OFFICIALS, STAFF OR VOLUNTEERS; CHARITIES; SPONSORS; NOR ANY OTHER PARTICIPANTS SHALL BEAR ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR YOU OR YOUR DOG. (2.) PARTICIPANT AGREES TO HOLD HARMLESS, INDEMNIFY AND DEFEND GOODNESS GRACIOUS, LLC; THE RACE OFFICIALS, STAFF OR VOLUNTEERS; CHARITIES; SPONSORS FOR ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER ARISING OUT OF THE ACTIONS OF THE PARTICIPANTS, GUESTS AND ANIMALS. (3.) YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR ENTRY FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE AND THAT IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER THE RACE DIRECTOR MAY IN HIS/HER SOLE DISCRETION CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE THE RACE IF S/HE DEEMS IT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PARTICIPANTS AND THAT IN THE EVENT OF SUCH CANCELLATION OR RESCHEDULING NO REFUNDS, EXCHANGES OR CREDIT SHALL BE DUE TO YOU. (4.) YOU SHALL ABIDE BY ALL RACE RULES INCLUDING: (a.) Female dogs in any stage of heat or dogs who are contagiously sick (e.g. kennel cough) are NOT ALLOWED at the Run for Rescue as spectators or participants. (b.) All dogs must always be kept under your control. All dogs must be on a leash during the race and while on public property at all times. During the race only fixed length leashes measuring five (5) feet or less are allowed; adjustable leashes are not allowed during the event. (c.) For dogs weighing 50 pounds or more, we have a one dog per human-participant requirement. One dog may participate with multiple humans, but (for safety reasons) one human cannot participate with more than one large dog. Any human running with a dog must be at least 12 years old and demonstrate adequate control over their canine companion. Participants under 12 may participate but only if they are accompanied by a guardian too. (d.) Registered solo (dogless) participants are welcome. (e.) Only registered runners/walkers are allowed to participate in the race. So for example, if Dick and Jane both want to run with Spot, we think that's great. But both Dick and Jane must be registered participants and Spot may accompany either person. (f.) The Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella vaccinations of any dog participating in the event must be current on race day as required by the state in which your dog is licensed and advised by your veterinarian. (g.) Dog licenses must be current on race day in accordance with the regulations for the area in which you live. (h.) Picking up your dog's doodoo is something you MUST DO anywhere it occurs. DO NOT leave the doodoo for someone else. Always have a stash of bags in your pocket for this purpose. We highly recommend walking your dog before the race to produce a doodoo too. Also, our staging area for this race is a scenic area where visitors and tourist frequent. Picking up after your dog makes sure their visit is enjoyable and we are invited back. (i.) Like your airline baggage and small children, dogs cannot be left unattended. We will have volunteers should you need someone to briefly watch your dog while you're in the loo. (It can get a little crowded in there with Fido.) (j.) Pulling your dog or forcing your dog to move forward in the race is strictly forbidden. (k.) Dogs must be at least one year (1) old to participate in the event with a runner. Dogs under one year old may participate but only if you take your time, walk, stop often, and are prepared and fit enough to carry your pup if needed. Dogs under one year in age do not have fully developed bones and joints and running them over distances or over-exerting them may cause permanent damage or later health issues. (l.) Disabled persons with trained service dogs are welcome to participate. Disabled dogs with a health need for a wheeled device are also allowed to participate with a registered runner or walker. Skate boards, bicycles, tricycles, unicycles, four wheelers, big wheels, rollerblades, rollerskates, strollers or baby joggers (unless medically needed by your dog), scooters, segues, motorized vehicles, Mystery Vans (even if you are Shaggy with Scooby Do) or any other type of rolling device is not allowed. (m.) All humans must wear shoes. (n.) The race director, race staff and race veterinarian in their sole discretion have the right to refuse entry or remove any human or dog from the course if their presence might be hazardous to others, or whose physical condition appears to be jeopardized before or during the event. SecureFeeā„¢ Registration Cancellation Insurance is offered in most states. If purchased, your registration may be covered for one of the covered reasons stated in the policy.
